INTRODUCTION
The Design Technology Team empowers Adobe’s Design organization through tools, services, and other resources. Our mission is to find points of friction within the design process and optimize them, use technology like AI and automation to simplify workflows, and build foundational services for designers and builders at Adobe.
Our team delivers solutions across the product lifecycle, from AI-assisted prototyping to deployment and hosting infrastructure.
We're looking for a Senior Engineer to build and scale these platforms. You'll work full-stack, building everything from React and Web Components on the frontend to Node.js services and AI/LLM integrations on the backend. This is a role for someone who understands that great engineering for designers requires deep empathy for how designers work, someone who thinks about developer experience and design system architecture with equal care.
You'll collaborate closely with the team to ship production-quality tools used by designers across Adobe. You'll integrate modern AI capabilities into design workflows, build applications that feel intuitive to use, and solve the unique technical challenges of building tools for creative professionals.
If you love building developer/designer tools, care deeply about craft and user experience, and want to shape the future of how designers work at Adobe, we'd love to meet you.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build Full-Stack Features for Internal Tools & Services
- Develop frontend components using React and Lit (Web Components) that feel polished, performant, and intuitive for designers to use
- Build backend services in Node.js to support design workflows, AI integrations, asset management, and collaboration features
- Architect and implement AI/LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face) that augment design capabilities in meaningful ways
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that other engineers can build on
- Support users with questions and problems they face using our tools
Own Technical Architecture & Design System Development
- Design and implement scalable component architectures for internal platforms, balancing flexibility, performance, and ease of use
- Build developer tooling, build systems, and documentation that make tools & workflows easy to adopt and extend
- Collaborate with the team to translate design vision into technical implementation, ensuring high-fidelity execution while identifying technical constraints early
- Establish patterns and standards for component development, testing, and versioning
Integrate AI & LLM Capabilities
- Build integrations with AI/LLM APIs to power intelligent features in our tools
- Design prompt engineering strategies, RAG pipelines, and agent workflows that deliver reliable, useful results
- Optimize AI features for performance, cost, and user experience
- Know the latest on AI/LLM developments and bring relevant capabilities into the team's products
Collaborate multi-functionally
- Partner with designers to understand workflows and struggles, translating user needs into technical solutions
- Work with engineering partners across Adobe to create and integrate tools & workflows into existing products and pipelines
- Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions
- Share knowledge with the team and help elevate engineering practices
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What you need to succeed
Must-haves:
- 5–8 years of software engineering experience building web applications and developer tools
- Strong frontend development skills with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript

- Solid backend development experience with Node.js and REST APIs
- Hands-on experience building with AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, or similar)
- Understanding of design systems and component library architecture—you've built or contributed to one before
- Experience with build tools, package management (npm), and modern development workflows
- Strong grasp of Git workflows and collaborative development practices
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with designers, product managers, and other engineers
- Design sensibility, you understand what makes a good user experience and care about the details
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with TypeScript in production codebases
- Familiarity with design tools like Figma and understanding of design-to-code workflows
- Experience with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, or AI agent frameworks
- Background in developer experience (DX) or building tools for other engineers/designers
- Familiarity with Adobe's creative tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Firefly, Express)
- Experience with Vite, Rollup, or other modern build tooling

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Backend Infrastructure Engineer
Map your degree to the TN category
TN visa approval hinges on your degree field matching the Computer Systems Analyst classification. A computer science or software engineering degree works cleanly. An unrelated degree paired with backend infrastructure experience alone won't satisfy the requirement.
Target employers with distributed infrastructure teams
Companies running large-scale cloud or on-premises infrastructure file TN paperwork more routinely than startups. Look for job postings that specify Kubernetes, Terraform, or cloud platform ownership, which signals the role meets specialty occupation depth.
Request a TN support letter before your start date
Your offer letter alone won't get you across the border. Ask the employer's HR or legal team for a formal TN support letter describing your role, your degree's relevance, and your Canadian or Mexican citizenship before you set a start date.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship roles
Searching general job boards buries TN-eligible postings. Migrate Mate filters specifically for Backend Infrastructure Engineer roles where employers have active TN visa sponsorship history, saving you from cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the process.
Prepare for CBP questions on infrastructure scope
Canadian applicants entering at a port of entry should expect CBP officers to probe whether the role is purely operational or includes systems analysis and design. Bring documentation showing architectural responsibilities, not just maintenance tasks.
Confirm your employer will prepare TN support documentation
Mexican nationals applying at a U.S. consulate will need the employer to provide a support letter confirming the role qualifies for TN status and details about compensation. Ask HR explicitly whether they've sponsored work visas before and can prepare the required documentation for your consular application.
Backend Infrastructure Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Backend Infrastructure Engineer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, if the position involves systems analysis, design, or optimization rather than purely manual server administration. USCIS and CBP evaluate TN eligibility under the Computer Systems Analyst category. Roles focused on infrastructure automation, cloud architecture, or distributed systems design consistently qualify. Roles limited to hardware maintenance or break-fix work are less likely to meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Backend Infrastructure Engineers?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, which means you can start work as soon as CBP approves your entry. H-1B visa requires lottery selection, typically a six-month wait, and a cap of 65,000 slots per fiscal year. For Canadian Backend Infrastructure Engineers with a qualifying degree, TN is faster and more predictable than the H-1B path.
Where can I find Backend Infrastructure Engineer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Backend Infrastructure Engineer roles where employers are already familiar with TN visa sponsorship, so you're not spending time educating hiring managers about the process. Filtering by visa type upfront significantly shortens your job search timeline compared to general-purpose job boards.
What documents does a Canadian Backend Infrastructure Engineer need at the border for TN admission?
You need a valid Canadian passport, a TN support letter from your employer on company letterhead describing your role and its alignment with the Computer Systems Analyst category, and your degree certificate or official transcripts. CBP officers may also ask for your job offer letter or employment contract. Processing at the port of entry is typically completed the same day.
Can a Mexican Backend Infrastructure Engineer apply for TN status at a U.S. consulate?
Yes. Mexican nationals apply for TN visas at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at the border. You'll need to schedule a consular appointment, submit the DS-160, and bring your employer's TN support letter, your degree credentials, and proof of Mexican citizenship. Processing times vary by consulate location and appointment availability, so plan your timeline accordingly.
