Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Biostatistician
Verify your degree aligns with Mathematics
TN classification for Biostatisticians falls under the Mathematics category. A degree in biostatistics, statistics, or mathematics clears the bar cleanly. Applied epidemiology or public health degrees may require additional documentation showing a quantitative, mathematical core.
Target pharma and CRO employers first
Pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, and academic medical centers have recent visa filings and are experienced with work visa sponsorship. These employers understand USMCA categories and have HR teams familiar with visa processes, making them well-positioned to support your TN application at the port of entry or consulate.
Ask employers about documentation timing upfront
Your employer must prepare a support letter detailing your role, qualifications, and TN eligibility before your port of entry appointment. Confirm this step is in their onboarding process before accepting an offer. Delays here, not the border, are where most Biostatistician TN timelines slip.
Search TN-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Biostatistician openings by employers with documented TN visa sponsorship history. This cuts the prospecting stage significantly so you spend time on roles where the employer already understands the process.
Prepare a role-specific support letter
Your employer's TN support letter must connect your statistical duties to the Mathematics USMCA category explicitly. Generic job offer letters get flagged. The letter should name your analytical methods, software tools, and the quantitative nature of your responsibilities.
Canadian citizens can self-petition at the border
If you're Canadian, you can present your TN package directly at a Class A port of entry without filing anything with USCIS in advance. Bring your support letter, degree transcripts, and credential evaluations. Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment instead.

Find Biostatistician JobsBiostatistician TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Biostatistician role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Biostatisticians qualify under the USMCA's Mathematics professional category, which covers occupations requiring theoretical and applied statistical knowledge. Your job duties must center on statistical analysis, modeling, or quantitative research. Roles with a mixed administrative or management focus may face more scrutiny at the border or consulate.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Biostatistician roles?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery, so Canadian professionals can secure status at a port of entry within days of receiving a job offer. H-1B requires a March registration lottery, a months-long wait if selected, and a October 1 start date. For Biostatisticians with a qualifying USMCA degree, TN is faster and more predictable at every stage.
Where can I find Biostatistician jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter Biostatistician openings by employers with recent visa filings, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with USMCA categories. Most general job boards don't surface visa sponsorship filters at this level of specificity.
Can I switch Biostatistician employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization before starting with the new employer. You can't transfer TN status the way H-1B portability works. Canadians can obtain the new TN at a port of entry with the new employer's support letter. Mexicans must schedule a new consular appointment, so factor in that lead time before accepting an offer.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my TN sponsorship?
Your employer needs to provide a support letter that names your title, describes your statistical duties in terms tied to the Mathematics USMCA category, states your start date and salary, and confirms the position is full-time. You'll supply your degree transcripts and, if your credential is from a non-U.S. institution, a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator.
