Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Events
Align your job title to USMCA categories
Events roles don't appear verbatim on the TN eligible occupations list. Work with your employer to frame your title under a qualifying category like Management Consultant or Scientific Technician based on your actual duties and degree.
Document degree-to-duties alignment precisely
TN officers look for a direct match between your credential and your job functions. A degree in hospitality management or communications paired with event planning duties is a stronger case than a generic business degree with a vague job description.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Convention centers, hotel chains with large events divisions, and corporate companies that run internal conferences regularly sponsor work visas. Searching for employers with recent visa filings narrows your list to companies experienced with visa sponsorship processes and more likely to support TN visa applications.
Search Events roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters jobs by TN visa sponsorship so you're only seeing roles where employers have confirmed willingness to sponsor. That cuts out the back-and-forth of asking each employer individually about their TN experience.
Ask employers for a detailed offer letter before filing
Canadian applicants present their offer letter directly at the port of entry. The letter must describe your specific duties, confirm full-time employment, and name the TN category being claimed. Vague letters are a common reason for officer pushback.
Prepare for Mexican consular processing timelines
Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview rather than using the border port-of-entry process. Build at least four to six weeks into your start date planning to account for appointment availability at U.S. consulates in Mexico.

Find Events JobsEvents TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Events jobs actually qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Events roles can qualify, but it depends on how the position is framed. The TN visa doesn't list 'event planner' as a standalone category, so your employer needs to map your duties to a qualifying occupation like Management Consultant or Scientific Technician. Roles focused on logistics coordination without a degree-matched specialty face more scrutiny from CBP officers.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Events professionals?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no petition filing with USCIS for Canadian applicants going through a port of entry. H-1B requires surviving a randomized lottery, waiting up to a year, and costs your employer significantly more in filing fees. For Events professionals who qualify under a USMCA occupation, TN is faster and more predictable, though it requires a more careful job title framing.
Can I find Events jobs that already include TN sponsorship on Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN, H-1B, and other work visa job seekers. You can filter Events roles by TN sponsorship so you only see positions where employers have already indicated they'll sponsor. That saves time compared to applying broadly and then discovering an employer has never handled TN paperwork.
What documents do I need as a Canadian applying for a TN in an Events role at the border?
You'll need a valid Canadian passport, a detailed job offer letter from your U.S. employer specifying your TN occupation category and duties, and proof of your qualifying degree or credentials. If your Events role is being classified under Management Consultant, bring documentation showing how your work functions meet that definition. CBP officers can and do ask follow-up questions on-site.
How long does TN status last for Events professionals, and can it be renewed?
TN status is granted in increments of up to three years and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you maintain a valid job offer in a qualifying occupation. There's no limit on renewals, which makes it a stable long-term option for Events professionals who aren't pursuing permanent residency on a defined timeline.
