Founded in 2016, Verkada has expanded rapidly with 15 offices and 2,200+ full-time employees. We are actively looking for an experienced front-end engineer to join our core engineering group, with a specific focus on our Design Systems and UI architecture. As a crucial driver of our user interface, you will build, scale, and maintain the foundational component library that powers our enterprise applications. You will act as the vital bridge between Design and Engineering, partnering closely with 8+ product teams to deliver a cohesive, accessible, and beautiful web experience that supports a suite of connected devices at scale. In this role, you will go beyond building individual features; you will help evolve the UI architecture and design tokens that ensure consistency and accelerate development. While your primary focus will be on the Platform UI and Design System, you will operate within a highly collaborative platform environment with opportunities to engage with our broader microfrontend and core infrastructure initiatives.
What You Will Do
- Evolve the Design System: Collaborate with engineering leadership to develop and scale our centralized, React-based component library, ensuring it remains highly reusable and easy to consume.
- Bridge Design and Engineering: Partner deeply with the Product Design team to translate design visions and Figma tokens into robust, pixel-perfect, and interactive web components.
- Empower product engineering: Support, collaborate with, and mentor engineers across 8+ distinct product teams, driving system adoption and helping them implement UI best practices.
- Champion Accessibility (a11y): Advocate for and implement strict accessibility standards (WCAG) across all shared components, ensuring our enterprise products are inclusive and usable by everyone.
- Ensure UI Quality and Performance: Write comprehensive automated tests (unit, visual regression) for components, and optimize UI rendering performance for complex single-page applications.
- Drive Documentation and Tooling: Maintain excellent documentation (e.g., via Storybook) and usage guidelines, making it frictionless for product teams to discover and implement components.
- Contribute to the Broader Platform: Ensure the design system integrates seamlessly into our massive microfrontend architecture, with opportunities to contribute to core frontend tooling and infrastructure as needed.
Education And Experience
- 4+ years of relevant industry experience in front-end web development with a strong focus on UI/UX.
- Expertise working with modern web technologies, specifically React, TypeScript, and modern styling solutions (e.g., CSS-in-JS, CSS Modules).
- Proven track record of building, maintaining, or significantly contributing to design systems, component libraries, or comprehensive UI frameworks.
- Tooling proficiency: Deep experience with component-driven development and documentation tools like Storybook.
- Accessibility focus: Strong, practical knowledge of web accessibility standards (ARIA, WCAG) and how to build compliant components.
- Design fluency: Experience collaborating directly with designers and a strong understanding of design tokens, typography, layout systems, and responsive design.
- Degree in Computer Science, HCI, or a similar technical/design field of study.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Frontend Engineer
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
TN approval for Frontend Engineer roles hinges on demonstrating that the position requires a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. Prepare a credential summary showing how your computer science or engineering degree maps directly to the frontend engineering work you'll perform.
Target employers with recent visa filings
Employers with recent visa filings for software or engineering roles already understand visa sponsorship processes. Prioritize companies with this experience so your offer doesn't stall while HR learns the requirements from scratch.
Search TN-ready frontend roles through Migrate Mate
Not every Frontend Engineer posting is TN-eligible or employer-ready. Migrate Mate filters roles by TN visa compatibility so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is genuinely on the table, not buried in an HR approval chain.
Request a support letter that names the SOC code
Ask your employer to include the specific Standard Occupational Classification code for Software Developers or Computer Systems Analysts in the TN support letter. CBP officers use this to confirm the role fits an approved USMCA category, and ambiguity causes denials.
Prepare for the Canadian port-of-entry adjudication
Canadian citizens get their TN adjudicated by a CBP officer at the border, not through a pre-approved petition. Bring your degree transcripts, the employer support letter, and your offer letter in one organized packet so the officer can verify your case without back-and-forth.
Confirm your Mexican consulate appointment window early
Mexican citizens must schedule a consulate interview, and appointment availability at U.S. consulates in Mexico varies significantly by city and season. Confirm the appointment timeline with your employer before accepting an offer, since start-date commitments can conflict with consulate wait times.

Find Frontend Engineer JobsFrontend Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Frontend Engineer role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, if the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field. CBP evaluates the actual job duties, not just the title. Roles that blend frontend work with broader software architecture or systems analysis map most cleanly to the Computer Systems Analyst USMCA category, which is one of the enumerated TN occupations.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Frontend Engineers compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as CBP approves your application at the port of entry. H-1B requires entering a lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection, then waiting until October 1 to begin work. For Frontend Engineers with a qualifying degree and a U.S. job offer, TN is typically the faster path by several months.
What documents does a Frontend Engineer need for a TN application?
You need a valid passport, an employer support letter describing the frontend engineering role and its degree requirements, and proof of your qualifying credential such as a degree transcript or diploma. Canadian citizens present these directly to a CBP officer at a land border or pre-clearance airport. Mexican citizens submit them at a U.S. consulate appointment as part of the nonimmigrant visa process.
Where can I find Frontend Engineer jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles under the TN visa. It surfaces Frontend Engineer positions where employers are already familiar with TN sponsorship requirements, which cuts down the time spent educating HR teams or discovering mid-process that a company won't support the visa category.
Can a Frontend Engineer on TN status change employers without losing status?
Yes, but you can't transfer a TN like an H-1B. Each new employer requires a fresh TN application. Canadian citizens can apply at the border with documentation from the new employer. Mexican citizens need a new consulate appointment. You should time the switch carefully so your existing TN remains valid while the new application is pending, since there is no formal portability protection.
