COMPANY OVERVIEW:
Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.
Overview:
We're looking for a highly motivated Mobile/Fullstack Senior Software Engineer to join our Air Taxi Systems team. We're seeking someone who has a demonstrated ability to ship iOS apps to both consumers and internal users. It is important that this person has worked on related backend APIs to power these apps. We're working on making quiet, emissions-free flight an everyday reality. As an engineer you'll work closely with product managers, designers, flight operations, and other engineers to maintain and stand up apps for our existing suite of tools in our EFB (electronic flight bag) for pilots, internal apps for our day to day operations on site, and consumer facing apps for riders. At this time working on the air taxi systems team is still similar to working in a start-up environment as we’re developing all the systems for commercial launch. We're looking for someone who is passionate about aviation, technology, and having a positive impact on the world.
Responsibilities:
- Develop consumer-grade mobile apps according to product requirements and design
- Iterate with product managers and designers
- Collaborate on and implement APIs and backend functions when possible
- Conduct thorough engineering testing and collaborate closely with QA
- Deployment and maintenance of public and company-internal apps
REQUIRED:
- 8+ years of software development
- Deep knowledge and expertise in iOS development
- Familiarity with Swift and modern frameworks
- Some backend work (e.g. Java, Go, Python)
- Built and shipped apps to consumers
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Track record of shipping apps to the App Store
DESIRED:
- Experience designing for multiple form factors (phone/tablet)
- Experience in consumer applications
- Experience with mobile applications on Android platforms
- Familiarity with web technologies (HTTP, RESTful APIs, GraphQL) and modern front-end concepts
- Are a pilot or have an interest in aviation and/or new transportation technology
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
The target base pay for this position is $137,200 - $206,600/yr.
The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Mobile Engineer
Align your degree to the job description
TN approval hinges on your degree field matching your mobile engineering duties. A computer science or software engineering degree supports most roles, but a math or electrical engineering degree requires a job description that explicitly maps those disciplines to mobile development work.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Not every tech employer understands the TN process for mobile roles. Focus on companies with recent visa filings, as their HR and legal teams are familiar with work visa sponsorship procedures and can move quickly through the TN application process at the port of entry or consulate without needing to build sponsorship experience from scratch.
Reframe your résumé around systems analysis
Mobile Engineer duties must fit the Computer Systems Analyst TN category. Rewrite your résumé to emphasize designing, analyzing, and implementing mobile systems rather than just coding tasks. Officers assess job function, not job title, so language precision matters.
Get your offer letter reviewed before crossing
Canadian applicants present TN documentation directly at the port of entry, so errors in the offer letter cannot be corrected on the spot. Confirm the letter specifies your role, TN category, employer details, and employment period before you travel.
Search for TN-ready roles using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Mobile Engineer jobs by employers that have sponsored TN visas. It surfaces roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process, cutting out the conversation about whether the company will support your petition.
Prepare for Mexican nationals' consular appointment requirements
Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate rather than at the border. Schedule your appointment early, since consular wait times vary significantly by location and season. Bring a certified copy of your degree, the employer's offer letter, and proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship.

Find Mobile Engineer JobsMobile Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Mobile Engineer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Mobile Engineer positions qualify under the Computer Systems Analyst TN category when the role involves analyzing, designing, or implementing mobile systems. The job description must demonstrate that the work requires theoretical and applied computer science knowledge at a professional level. Roles focused purely on manual QA or non-technical product work may not qualify without careful framing.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Mobile Engineer roles?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery, so Canadian citizens can get status approved at the port of entry in a single day. H-1B requires winning a lottery, waiting months for USCIS adjudication, and can only begin on October 1. For Mobile Engineers who qualify under USMCA, TN is faster and more predictable, though it does not lead directly to a green card the way H-1B can.
What documents does a Canadian Mobile Engineer need at the border?
You need a valid Canadian passport, a detailed employer offer letter specifying your TN category, job duties, salary, and employment period, plus proof of your qualifying degree. A transcript or credential evaluation is not always required but strengthens your case if your degree title is not an exact match to the Computer Systems Analyst category.
How can I find Mobile Engineer jobs where TN sponsorship is already expected?
Migrate Mate lets you search Mobile Engineer roles filtered by employers with TN sponsorship experience. This avoids starting conversations with employers who have never supported TN petitions and speeds up the offer-to-filing timeline considerably, which matters for Canadian applicants planning a border crossing appointment.
Can a Mexican Mobile Engineer apply for TN at the Canadian border?
No. Mexican citizens must apply for TN status at a U.S. consulate in Mexico, not at a Canadian port of entry. That process requires a scheduled interview, supporting documents, and a visa stamp before travel. Consular wait times vary, so Mexican applicants should plan the sponsorship timeline with their employer well before an intended start date.
