About The Team
Skydio builds flying robots that give people superpowers: every day, a Skydio drone saves a life alongside first responders, prevents a fire or mass power outage, or keeps our soldiers safe. The Legal team is a big part of that, counseling the organization in areas like product, compliance, employment, IP, customer and supply chain agreements, and disputes. We approach the law like practical engineers: understanding constraints and optimizing quickly amidst complexity and uncertainty. We don’t just identify obstacles–we design pathways through them, partnering across engineering, product, and business teams to turn legal challenges into competitive advantages. With integrity and ingenuity, we protect the company, accelerate innovation, and ensure every launch soars.

This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who values creativity, autonomy, and collaboration, who loves the product, and who likes to roll up their sleeves, own the outcome, and work shoulder-to-shoulder in the trenches with engineers and execs alike.

- Develop, execute, and own product legal strategy across all products
- Go-to counsel and lawyer for product, engineering, and product development
- Build and foster relationships across the org, from software engineers to execs
- Contribute to Skydio’s entrepreneurial culture by exploring fresh ideas, identifying risk areas, and finding smart, creative ways to address them
- Adopt tools and create processes to automate, encourage self-service, and work efficiently
- Become an expert in flying robots
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT
- You hold a JD and are admitted to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- You have 6+ years of in-house experience as a generalist or product counsel
- You are a true Full Stack Product Counsel
- You have experience with both hardware and software
- You know how to triage and ruthlessly prioritize
- You manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and follow-through
- You thrive in collaborative settings, understanding that building strong relationships across departments is vital to success
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity, eager to problem solve, and take the initiative to drive projects to completion
- Experience with international, federal, state and local government as customers is ideal

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Full Stack Engineer
Verify your role maps to Computer Systems Analyst
Full Stack Engineer positions qualify under TN visa's Computer Systems Analyst category only when the job description emphasizes systems analysis and design. Titles alone don't determine eligibility, the duties and your theoretical and practical application of computing knowledge do.
Gather degree equivalency documentation before applying
Your Canadian or Mexican computer science, software engineering, or related degree must align with the role's technical requirements. If your degree is in a tangential field, compile project documentation and coursework records that demonstrate direct application to full stack engineering.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Focus your search on employers with recent visa filings for Computer Systems Analyst or software engineering roles. Prior visa sponsorship experience signals that a company's HR and legal teams already understand work visa sponsorship processes and are equipped to handle the TN visa process, which requires an employer support letter and straightforward port-of-entry or consular presentation for qualified candidates.
Use Migrate Mate to filter TN-sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies actively hiring Full Stack Engineers with TN visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces employer-specific sponsorship history so you spend less time screening companies unfamiliar with TN filing requirements for technical roles.
Ask employers for a USMCA-specific offer letter
Your offer letter must explicitly state the Computer Systems Analyst classification, your specific duties, and your degree qualifications. A generic software engineering offer letter is frequently insufficient at the port of entry and can result in CBP requesting additional documentation on the spot.
Prepare for Mexican TN consular requirements early
Mexican nationals require a consular appointment and cannot use the simplified Canadian port-of-entry process. Schedule your USCIS-route TN petition well before your intended start date, since consular wait times for technical roles can extend the timeline beyond what most employers expect.
Full Stack Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Full Stack Engineer role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Full Stack Engineer positions qualify under the TN visa's Computer Systems Analyst category when the role requires theoretical and practical application of highly specialized computing knowledge to design, build, and maintain integrated software systems. The job title alone isn't determinative. The duties described in your offer letter must demonstrate systems-level analysis and engineering work across both client and server environments to satisfy CBP or consular review.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Full Stack Engineers?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and can be issued the same day at a port of entry for Canadians. H-1B visa selection is lottery-based with roughly 85,000 slots annually and a registration period that runs once per fiscal year. For Full Stack Engineers who are Canadian or Mexican citizens and already hold a qualifying offer, TN is faster, more predictable, and doesn't require waiting for a lottery result.
Where can I find Full Stack Engineer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Full Stack Engineer roles where employers have confirmed TN visa sponsorship. General job boards don't filter by sponsorship type, which means you'll spend significant time contacting employers who aren't familiar with TN requirements or won't sponsor at all. Searching through a TN-focused platform cuts that friction early in your job search.
Can a Canadian Full Stack Engineer start work the same day TN status is approved?
Yes. Canadian citizens applying at a U.S. port of entry can receive TN status during the same visit, meaning you can begin work as soon as CBP approves your entry. You'll need your offer letter, educational credentials, and documentation supporting the Computer Systems Analyst classification. Mexican nationals go through consular processing, which does not allow same-day work authorization.
What happens to my TN status if my employer changes my job responsibilities?
TN status is tied to the specific role, duties, and employer listed in your approved documentation. If your employer materially changes your job responsibilities or you move into a management or non-technical function that no longer reflects Computer Systems Analyst work, your existing TN may no longer cover your actual role. You'd need to reapply under an updated classification before taking on those new duties.
