Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Solutions Architect
Match your credentials to the SOC definition
TN approval for Solutions Architect roles hinges on the Computer Systems Analyst category. Your degree transcript and job offer letter must both reflect systems analysis, architecture, or engineering, not generic IT or management. A mismatch there triggers a denial at the port.
Target employers with recent visa filings
Employers with recent visa filings for technical architecture roles already understand work visa sponsorship mechanics. Filtering by employers experienced with visa sponsorship cuts your outreach to companies that won't hesitate on the process or claim they can't sponsor work visas. For TN status specifically, Canadian citizens can present their offer letter and credentials directly at a U.S. port of entry, while Mexican nationals apply through a U.S. consulate—both requiring only an employer support letter, not government filings.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate surfaces Solutions Architect roles from employers with recent visa filings and sponsorship experience, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with work visa processes. Search by role and filter for openings at employers experienced with visa sponsorship.
Negotiate the support letter into your offer
Before signing, confirm your offer letter will include a detailed description of duties, your degree relevance, and the employer's intent to support your TN status. Canadian applicants present this directly at the border, so vague letters create real port-of-entry risk.
Understand the Mexican consular processing timeline
Mexican nationals must schedule a consulate appointment rather than using port-of-entry processing. Build at least four to six weeks into your start date negotiations to account for appointment availability and administrative processing at the consular post.
Prepare for architecture-specific technical scrutiny
CBP officers can question whether a Solutions Architect role qualifies under the Computer Systems Analyst definition. Bring documentation showing your work involves designing integrated systems, not just managing projects or advising on IT procurement, which falls outside the category.

Find Solutions Architect JobsSolutions Architect TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Solutions Architect role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Solutions Architect positions qualify under the USMCA's Computer Systems Analyst category when the role involves designing, integrating, and optimizing technical systems. The job offer letter must describe duties that align with systems analysis and architecture. Roles focused primarily on project management or sales engineering can face closer scrutiny at the port of entry or consulate.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Solutions Architect roles?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian professionals, and Canadian citizens can receive approval at the port of entry the same day they present their offer letter. H-1B requires an annual lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate and a six-month wait before the start date. For qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals, TN is a faster and more predictable path to working as a Solutions Architect in the U.S.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead that describes your specific duties as a Solutions Architect, confirms your role qualifies under the Computer Systems Analyst category, states your employment period and compensation structure, and explains how your degree relates to the position. Canadian professionals present this letter directly to CBP. Mexican nationals submit it as part of their consular visa application package.
Where can I find Solutions Architect jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employer visa sponsorship experience, so you can search for Solutions Architect openings where employers have demonstrated recent visa filings. That avoids spending time on applications where the hiring team has no familiarity with work visa sponsorship or assumes you need H-1B sponsorship instead.
Can a Mexican national on a TN visa switch Solutions Architect employers?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization tied to the new employer before or when you begin working there. Unlike H-1B portability rules, TN status is employer-specific and does not carry forward automatically. Mexican nationals will need to return to a consulate for a new visa stamp reflecting the updated employer, while Canadians can present a new offer letter at a port of entry.
