Frame your credentials around advisory outcomes
TN visa approval under Management Consultant hinges on demonstrating that your role involves expert analysis and recommendations, not just account retention. Prepare a credential package that maps your degree and past client deliverables to advisory functions, not sales metrics.
Target enterprise software and professional services employers
Global Account Director roles at enterprise SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and Big Four consulting firms have the clearest path to TN sponsorship because their job descriptions already align with Management Consultant duties. Prioritize employers with established international hiring programs.
Search verified TN sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Find Global Account Director openings filtered by TN visa sponsorship using Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers already familiar with the USMCA professional categories. This cuts the time you'd spend vetting companies that don't sponsor.
Clarify your day-to-day duties before the offer letter is drafted
Ask your hiring manager to confirm whether your role will be described as advisory or revenue-generating before the offer letter is finalized. TN officers scrutinize account director titles because they blur the line between consultant and salesperson.
Distinguish TN from H-1B when discussing sponsorship with employers
Canadians can activate TN status at the border within days of a signed offer, with no USCIS petition required. Sharing this with skeptical employers removes the H-1B lottery objection and often converts a soft no into a conversation about next steps.
Request a support letter that specifies consulting deliverables
Your employer's support letter must outline specific advisory deliverables, such as client needs assessments, solution architecture reviews, or strategic roadmaps. A letter that describes quota targets or revenue responsibility will raise questions about TN eligibility at the border or consulate.
Global Account Director TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Global Account Director role actually qualify for TN status?
It can, but the qualifying category is Management Consultant, not a dedicated account management classification. The role must center on providing expert advisory services to clients rather than primarily driving sales revenue. Officers will review your job description and employer support letter, so the framing of your duties matters as much as your title.
How does TN compare to H-1B for a Global Account Director position?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be activated at a port of entry within days of a signed offer. H-1B requires a USCIS petition, a lottery selection, and a wait of several months before you can start. For Canadian professionals with a qualifying Global Account Director role, TN is the faster and more predictable path.
Where can I find Global Account Director jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can filter by job title and visa type to find employers already familiar with USMCA professional categories, which avoids the common frustration of applying to companies that don't understand TN or refuse to sponsor it.
Can Mexican nationals get TN status for a Global Account Director role?
Yes, but the process differs from the Canadian path. Mexican TN applicants must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and receive approval before beginning work. The qualifying criteria are the same, so your role still needs to fit the Management Consultant category, and your employer's support letter must clearly describe advisory duties.
What happens to my TN status if my employer changes my role after I'm hired?
If your duties shift significantly away from the consulting or advisory work described in your original TN application, your status may no longer be valid for the new role. You'd need a new TN filing that reflects the updated job description. Notify your employer's HR or immigration contact immediately if your responsibilities change materially so the paperwork stays current.
