Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Infrastructure Engineer
Map your credentials to qualifying TN categories
Infrastructure Engineer roles can qualify under Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer designations depending on your duties. Match your degree field and job description to the correct category before applications, since a mismatch causes denial at the port of entry.
Target employers with active visa filing histories
Focus your search on companies that have sponsored TN visa or H-1B visa professionals before. Employers with in-house HR or legal teams familiar with USMCA filings process your sponsorship paperwork faster and rarely push back on TN visa-specific requirements.
Request a detailed offer letter before filing
Your TN approval depends heavily on the offer letter wording. Ask the employer to describe your duties using language that clearly maps to TN occupational categories, specifying your degree requirement and the technical scope of the infrastructure role. The more precisely the letter articulates how your qualifications and responsibilities align with TN eligibility criteria, the stronger your case when presenting at the port of entry (for Canadians) or U.S. consulate (for Mexicans).
Find TN-ready employers using Migrate Mate
Search for Infrastructure Engineer roles with verified TN visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which filters opportunities to employers already set up to file. This cuts out the back-and-forth with companies unfamiliar with the TN process.
Prepare Canadian credentials for CBP review at the border
Canadian applicants apply directly at a U.S. port of entry, so bring your degree transcripts, the certified offer letter, and your Canadian passport. CBP officers adjudicate on the spot, and missing a single document means same-day denial with no appeal.
Clarify cloud and vendor-specific duties in your petition
Infrastructure roles often blend DevOps, cloud architecture, and vendor management. USCIS and CBP officers look for a clear specialty occupation nexus, so ensure your petition explicitly ties your AWS, Azure, or on-premises infrastructure duties to your engineering or computer science degree.
Infrastructure Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Infrastructure Engineer role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, Infrastructure Engineer positions can qualify under the USMCA's Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer occupational categories, depending on your specific duties and degree. Roles focused on network architecture, cloud infrastructure, or systems design tend to qualify most cleanly. The key is demonstrating that the position requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field and that your duties fall within a recognized specialty occupation.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Infrastructure Engineers?
For Infrastructure Engineers, TN is often more practical than H-1B. There is no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no lengthy USCIS petition process. Canadians can receive TN status at the port of entry on the same day. H-1B requires filing months in advance with no guaranteed selection. The tradeoff is that TN does not confer dual intent, meaning it cannot be used as a direct path to a green card the way H-1B can.
Can a Mexican Infrastructure Engineer get TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Mexican nationals qualify for TN status under USMCA but must apply through a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at the border. There is also a limited annual allocation for Mexican TN applicants, unlike the uncapped access available to Canadians. Processing timelines depend on consulate scheduling, so building lead time into your job search and offer negotiation is practical for Mexican professionals.
What documents does my employer need to sponsor my TN visa as an Infrastructure Engineer?
Your employer needs to provide a detailed offer letter that specifies your job title, duties, the requirement for a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science or electrical engineering, your start date, and your compensation terms. The employer does not file a separate petition with USCIS for Canadian applicants since TN is adjudicated at the port of entry. For Mexican applicants, the consular application requires similar documentation plus DS-160 completion.
Where can I find Infrastructure Engineer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters Infrastructure Engineer roles by employers who are prepared to sponsor TN visas for Canadian and Mexican professionals, which removes the friction of approaching companies unfamiliar with the USMCA process. General job boards rarely surface TN-specific sponsorship details, so using a platform designed for visa-sponsored roles saves significant time in your search.
