Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Learning And Development
Align your credentials to the role
TN approval for L&D roles hinges on a direct match between your degree field and the position. A degree in instructional design, organizational development, or adult education reads stronger to a CBP officer than a general business degree.
Target employers with structured training departments
Companies with dedicated L&D teams, LMS administrators, or corporate universities file TN letters more fluently. Look for postings that list instructional design tools or ADDIE methodology, which signal an established training function.
Request a precise job offer letter
Your employer's support letter must name your specific L&D duties, confirm the degree requirement, and state the TN category. Vague language like 'training support' can trigger CBP questions. Ask HR to list deliverables like curriculum development or needs assessments.
Search verified TN sponsors through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Learning and Development roles by employers with confirmed TN visa sponsorship history. This cuts the time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with USMCA filing requirements for L&D professionals.
Prepare for CBP scrutiny on specialty occupation
CBP officers sometimes question whether L&D roles require a degree rather than general experience. Bring your job offer letter, degree transcripts, and role documentation showing that the position applies specialized instructional theory, not just facilitation or onboarding tasks.
Understand Mexican nationals face a separate consular step
Mexican citizens must schedule a consulate appointment and cannot use the Canadian port-of-entry option. Schedule your DS-160 and visa interview early, since appointment availability varies significantly by consulate location and season.

Find Learning And Development JobsLearning And Development TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Learning and Development role qualify for a TN visa?
Yes, provided the position requires a relevant degree such as instructional design, adult education, organizational development, or a related field. The role must function as a specialty occupation under USMCA. Generic trainer or facilitator positions that accept any bachelor's degree without a field-specific requirement are harder to support and may face CBP pushback.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Learning and Development professionals?
TN is faster and more accessible for Canadian and Mexican nationals. There's no annual cap for Canadians, no lottery, and approval can happen at a port of entry in hours. H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a randomized lottery, takes months, and has an 85,000-cap annually. For L&D professionals from USMCA countries, TN is the more practical first path.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN visa filing?
Your employer must supply a signed support letter on company letterhead that describes your specific L&D duties, confirms the role requires a degree in a relevant field, states your TN professional category, and lists your employment terms. You'll also need your original degree transcripts or credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the U.S. or Canada.
Where can I find Learning and Development jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking roles with confirmed TN visa sponsorship. You can filter by job title and visa type to surface employers already familiar with USMCA requirements, which avoids the common dead end of applying to companies that don't understand TN sponsorship obligations.
Can I switch Learning and Development employers on a TN visa?
Yes, but you need a new TN authorization tied to the new employer before you start. TN status is employer-specific, so your existing authorization doesn't transfer. Canadian citizens can obtain a new TN at a port of entry with a job offer letter from the new employer. Mexican nationals must return to a U.S. consulate for a new visa stamp.
