Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Partner Development Manager
Align your degree to the management consultant category
TN approval for Partner Development Manager roles depends on classifying the position under Management Consultant. Your degree in business, marketing, or a related field must map directly to the advisory and strategic functions in your offer letter, not just the job title.
Request an offer letter that mirrors TN language
Ask your employer to describe your role using TN-aligned language: advising on partner strategy, channel architecture, or alliance development. Generic titles like 'relationship manager' without strategic consulting language create unnecessary CBP scrutiny at the port of entry.
Target companies with established channel partner programs
Software, technology, and cloud infrastructure companies with formal channel or reseller programs are most likely to understand TN sponsorship. Look for roles where the job description explicitly involves partner ecosystem strategy rather than direct sales or account management.
Prepare a consulting duties memo before your border appointment
Canadian citizens presenting at a port of entry benefit from a one-page memo outlining daily consulting duties. CBP officers assess whether the role qualifies as Management Consultant based on function, so demonstrating strategic advisory scope in writing reduces delays.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers actively filing TN petitions
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies with recent visa filings for business and management roles. Filtering by employer visa sponsorship experience helps you prioritize employers already familiar with visa processes, which can streamline your hiring timeline significantly.
Confirm your employer's I-9 process covers TN documentation
Once your TN is approved, your employer must complete your I-9 using your TN approval as work authorization. Confirm their HR team knows to accept TN status documents. USCIS E-Verify enrollment at your employer doesn't change TN eligibility but affects your I-9 completion path.

Find Partner Development Manager JobsPartner Development Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Partner Development Manager role qualify for a TN visa?
It can qualify under the Management Consultant category, but the role must involve strategic advisory functions, not just relationship management or sales. Your employer's offer letter needs to describe duties like advising on partner ecosystem architecture, channel strategy, or alliance structures. Titles alone don't determine TN eligibility; the described job function does.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Partner Development Manager positions?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start working as soon as CBP approves your application at the port of entry. H-1B requires entering a lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate and a wait of up to a year before employment begins. The tradeoff is that TN does not allow immigrant intent, while H-1B is dual-intent. For Canadians pursuing this role, TN is generally faster and more predictable.
Can Mexican citizens get TN sponsorship for this role?
Yes, Mexican citizens can obtain TN status for Partner Development Manager roles, but the process differs from Canada. Mexican nationals must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at the border, and processing involves scheduling a visa interview. The Management Consultant category applies equally, so the same degree and duties requirements hold.
How do I find employers who will sponsor a TN visa for this role?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for employers with TN visa sponsorship history in business and management roles. Prioritizing companies that have sponsored TN petitions before cuts down on the time you spend educating HR teams about the process. Technology companies with partner programs are a particularly active hiring segment for this role and TN status.
What documents do I need for a Partner Development Manager TN application?
You'll need a signed employer offer letter describing your consulting duties in TN-compatible language, proof of citizenship (Canadian or Mexican passport), and evidence of your qualifying degree. A credentials evaluation is useful if your degree is from outside North America. Canadian citizens present these documents directly at the port of entry; Mexican citizens submit them as part of their consular visa application.
