Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a New Grad
Verify your degree meets TN requirements
TN status ties directly to your credential. Confirm your specific degree field maps to a USMCA-listed occupation before applying, since a computer science degree supports a Systems Analyst TN but not a general business role.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
New Grad hiring managers often confuse TN with H-1B and assume a lottery is involved. Filter your search to employers with recent visa filings—they're experienced with work visa sponsorship and understand the TN process, so they won't delay your offer.
Request your offer letter before your start date
Canadian citizens can enter at any port of entry with a valid job offer letter and credentials, no visa stamp needed. Get the offer letter finalized at least two weeks before your intended start date to avoid last-minute delays at the border.
Search TN-specific job listings on Migrate Mate
Generic job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type. Migrate Mate lets you search exclusively for New Grad roles where employers have confirmed TN sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on companies that only support H-1B.
Prepare a credential packet for border entry
For Canadian applicants entering at a land border or airport, CBP officers adjudicate TN status on the spot. Bring your degree transcripts, offer letter specifying your occupation and wage, and a resume summarizing your qualifying credentials.
Clarify TN scope in your employment agreement
Your TN petition must match your actual job duties. If your role evolves in the first year, your employer may need to file an amended petition with USCIS. Confirm your offer letter describes duties consistent with the USMCA occupation category you're entering under.

Find New Grad JobsNew Grad TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a new graduate qualify for TN visa sponsorship without prior work experience?
Yes. TN visa eligibility is based on your degree field and job offer, not years of experience. If your bachelor's degree aligns with a USMCA-listed occupation and your employer offers a role in that category, you can enter on TN status immediately after graduation with no work history required.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for new grad roles?
TN has no annual cap and no lottery for Canadians, which means you can start working as soon as you have a qualifying offer and your credential is verified. H-1B requires entering a lottery in March for an October start date, creating a six-month gap that most new grads can't absorb. For Mexican nationals, TN has a limited annual allocation, so timing matters more.
Where can I find New Grad jobs that explicitly support TN visa sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa types, making it hard to know whether an employer supports TN or only H-1B. Migrate Mate filters listings specifically for TN-eligible roles, so you can search New Grad positions by occupation category and confirm sponsorship before applying.
Does my employer need to file paperwork with USCIS for my TN status as a Canadian?
No. Canadian citizens apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry or preclearance location with their job offer letter, credential documentation, and a completed I-94 request. USCIS is not involved in the initial entry process for Canadians. Mexican nationals, however, must obtain a TN visa stamp at a U.S. consulate before entry.
What happens if my New Grad role changes after I enter on TN status?
If your job duties shift substantially or your job title changes, your existing TN may no longer cover your work. Your employer would need to file an amended TN petition with USCIS or you'd need to re-enter at a port of entry with updated documentation. Keeping your offer letter and actual duties aligned from the start reduces this risk. Migrate Mate can help you identify employers experienced with TN amendments.
