Transporter Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a transporter in New York?
Most transporter positions in New York are accessible without a state-issued license, though a high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Many New York hospital systems require a current BLS or CPR certification, which candidates can obtain through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross before applying. Entry-level candidates often start as patient transport aides or hospital orderlies, gaining on-the-job training before moving into more specialized transport roles within larger systems.
Which companies hire transporters in New York?
Employers hiring transporters in New York right now include Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital, Allegheny Transportation Services, and LaBella Associates, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense network of large academic medical centers and regional hospital systems makes it one of the more active states for transporter hiring throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most transporter jobs?
New York, Rochester, and White Plains have the most transporter openings in New York, driven by the concentration of major hospital systems and long-term care facilities in New York City and the presence of large regional medical employers in Buffalo and Albany that anchor hiring in those metro areas.
Are there remote transporter jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Transporter work is largely hands-on and on-site by nature, requiring direct patient or equipment handling within a facility. About 8% of transporter openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those are most commonly found in medical courier coordination or dispatch roles rather than direct patient transport positions.
How can I get hired as a transporter in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is applying directly to entry-level patient transport aide or hospital orderly postings at large New York systems like Northwell Health, NewYork-Presbyterian, or NYC Health and Hospitals, which regularly bring on candidates with no prior healthcare experience. Earning a BLS certification before applying gives candidates a clear edge. Adjacent roles such as environmental services aide or nursing assistant can also serve as a lateral entry point, as many New York facilities promote internally into transport positions.
Where can I find and apply to transporter jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to transporter jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
