UI Designer Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ui designer in Louisiana?
UI design has no state-issued license in Louisiana, so entry is portfolio and education driven. Most employers in New Orleans and Baton Rouge expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design, interaction design, or a related field, along with a portfolio showing real product work. Completing an accredited design program at institutions like Louisiana State University or the University of New Orleans, then building case studies from freelance or internship projects, is the most common path to landing a first role.
How much do UI designers make in Louisiana?
UI designers in Louisiana earn a median of about $49,910 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $35,910 for the lowest 10% to over $76,300 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ui designers in Louisiana?
Employers hiring ui designers in Louisiana right now include Worley, Entergy, and POLARIS ENGINEERING, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's mix of large healthcare systems, energy companies, and state government technology contractors keeps demand steady outside of the typical tech corridor.
Which Louisiana cities have the most ui designer jobs?
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Metairie have the most ui designer openings in Louisiana. New Orleans drives the largest share through its concentration of digital agencies, healthcare networks, and tourism technology firms, while Baton Rouge is anchored by state government IT projects, LSU Health, and regional energy companies that maintain in-house design teams.
Are there remote ui designer jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 21% of ui designer openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the screen-based, asynchronous nature of most interface design work. Roles tied to government contracts or on-site product teams at energy and healthcare employers are the most likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a ui designer in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a junior designer or design associate role at a Louisiana digital agency or healthcare system, where mentorship structures are more common than at enterprise employers. Agencies in New Orleans frequently bring on junior hires from LSU's design program or UNO's fine arts pipeline. Building three to four polished case studies showing your process from research to final mockup matters more than years of experience, and a working knowledge of Figma will meet the minimum bar for most junior postings in the state.
Where can I find and apply to ui designer jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to ui designer jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly to each one.
