UI Designer Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ui designer in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license to work as a ui designer, so the path runs through education and portfolio building. Most employers in the state expect a bachelor's degree in interaction design, graphic design, or a related field, though strong self-taught candidates with documented project work are regularly hired. Building a portfolio with case studies showing your full process, from research through wireframes to final screens, is the clearest signal Pennsylvania hiring teams look for.
How much do UI designers make in Pennsylvania?
UI designers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $60,730 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,430 for the lowest 10% to over $102,090 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ui designers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring ui designers in Pennsylvania right now include Affirm, Proscia, and AFS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large healthcare, financial services, and technology companies means in-house design teams are common alongside agency and consulting roles.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most ui designer jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Exton have the most ui designer openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives the largest share of demand through its dense cluster of healthcare systems, fintech firms, and media companies, while Pittsburgh's growth in autonomous technology and academic medical centers has built a strong secondary market for design talent.
Are there remote ui designer jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 63% of ui designer openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well screen-based design work translates to distributed teams. Research, wireframing, and design review work tend to be the most fully remote, while roles embedded in product squads often favor hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a ui designer in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate designer role at a Pennsylvania agency or mid-size tech company, where you work across multiple clients and build a varied portfolio quickly. Large Pennsylvania employers like Comcast and Independence Blue Cross periodically run design internship and rotational programs that convert to full-time roles. Candidates who transition from adjacent roles in graphic design, front-end development, or UX research have a clear on-ramp, and a focused portfolio of three to five case studies consistently outweighs a sparse resume.
Where can I find and apply to ui designer jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to ui designer jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across industries and experience levels. Find a role that fits and apply directly from the listing.
