UI Designer Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ui designer in Oregon?
UI design has no state-issued license in Oregon, so the path runs through education and portfolio building. Most Oregon employers look for a degree in interaction design, graphic design, or a related field from programs at institutions like the Pacific Northwest College of Art or Portland State University, or a credible bootcamp with a strong portfolio. Practical experience with Figma and a case-study portfolio of real or concept projects is what moves candidates through Oregon hiring processes.
How much do UI designers make in Oregon?
UI designers in Oregon earn a median of about $66,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,260 for the lowest 10% to over $170,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ui designers in Oregon?
Employers hiring ui designers in Oregon right now include NIKE, Esri, and Affirm, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oregon's concentration of technology headquarters, footwear and apparel brands, and semiconductor firms means ui designer roles appear across a wider range of industries than in most states.
Which Oregon cities have the most ui designer jobs?
Portland, Beaverton, and Oregon lead for ui designer openings in Oregon. Portland dominates because it is home to the state's largest cluster of technology companies, digital agencies, and corporate headquarters, while Eugene and Bend contribute openings tied to university-adjacent startups and remote-friendly product teams that have relocated to Oregon's smaller metros.
Are there remote ui designer jobs in Oregon?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of ui designer openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally ui design work translates to distributed teams. Fully remote roles are most common at product-focused software companies, while in-office or hybrid arrangements are more typical at Oregon's larger corporate employers where cross-functional collaboration is embedded in the design process.
How can I get hired as a ui designer in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a portfolio of two or three concept or volunteer projects that demonstrate end-to-end UI thinking, then targeting associate or junior ui designer roles at Oregon's mid-size digital agencies and software companies in Portland. Lateral moves from graphic design, marketing coordinator, or front-end development roles are common ways Oregonians get their first UI title. Completing a Figma-focused design bootcamp and contributing to open-source or nonprofit redesign projects gives candidates a concrete edge in entry-level screening.
Where can I find and apply to ui designer jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to ui designer jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings across Portland, Eugene, Bend, and remote positions tied to Oregon employers. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly from the listing.
