- Collaborate with the product and development teams as they implement the design into released product features.
- Promote product consistency across the platform.
- Employ usage analytics from our product to generate data to track and measure the success of our solutions.
We’re Excited to Learn More About You
Your experience may include:
- 5+ years of experience in UX, preferably in a commercial software environment working on B2B enterprise software or SaaS products.
- Well-versed in experimental design, research methodology, and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated experience with research methodologies such as user observation, user interview, usability testing, card sorts, persona development, user journeys and surveys.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret research data and turn it into actionable insights.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills that promote idea-sharing and knowledge transfer.
- Proficient in design and prototyping tools (Figma, Balsamiq, Miro, whiteboards, etc.)
You may have other skills or credentials, including:
- Insurance industry or Insurance technology experience
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques – e.g., AI, Machine Learning, etc.
We know that talent comes from all backgrounds and experience levels. We encourage military members and their spouses as well as candidates without a degree or a background in tech to apply!

Tips for Your UI Designer Job Search
Tailor your portfolio to the industry
Hiring managers in fintech and healthtech look for work that shows you understand data-dense interfaces and compliance constraints. Pull examples from your portfolio that match the vertical you're targeting, and add a brief annotation explaining the problem you solved.
Show component thinking, not just screens
Many ui designer job listings specifically ask for design systems experience. Present your portfolio work as component libraries or token-based systems wherever you can, not just final screens, to signal you think at a product scale.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists ui designer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Read the job description for tool signals
Listings that specify Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD often reflect the team's actual workflow. If a role lists a tool you're less fluent in, spend a day building a practice file before your screen so you can speak to it confidently.
Prepare a design critique response
Most ui designer interview loops include a live critique or whiteboard exercise. Practice narrating your decisions out loud as you work through a redesign prompt, because interviewers are evaluating your reasoning process as much as the final output.
Negotiate scope, not just compensation
After an offer, clarify whether the role owns end-to-end design or executes specs handed down from a UX lead. Knowing where your decision-making authority starts and stops helps you evaluate whether the role matches your growth goals before you accept.
UI Designer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most ui designers?
The companies hiring the most ui designers right now include Amazon, Affirm, and Google, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Washington, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is strongest at companies scaling consumer-facing products or building out internal design systems.
How many ui designer jobs are remote?
About 40% of ui designer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, making it one of the more location-flexible design roles available. Roles focused on design systems maintenance and component library work tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions embedded in agile product teams more often require some on-site presence.
How do you become a ui designer?
Start by building foundational skills in visual design principles, typography, color, and layout through structured coursework or self-study. Learn a primary design tool such as Figma, then build a portfolio of three to five case studies that show your process from brief to shipped interface. Seek out freelance projects, open-source contributions, or redesign exercises to fill gaps in real-world experience before applying to full-time roles.
Can you get hired as a ui designer without much experience?
Yes, junior ui designer roles exist specifically for candidates with limited professional experience, but your portfolio carries nearly all the weight at that stage. Focus on two or three tightly scoped case studies that walk through your design decisions, not just the final screens. Contract work, internships, and volunteer projects for nonprofits are common ways to build credible shipped work before landing a full-time position.
What does the ui designer interview process look like?
Most ui designer interview loops begin with a recruiter screen, followed by a portfolio review with the hiring manager or design lead where you walk through your case studies and explain your decisions. A design exercise or take-home challenge is common at the middle stage, testing your ability to solve a constrained UI problem. Final rounds typically include cross-functional interviews with product and engineering to assess collaboration and communication.
Where can I find and apply to ui designer jobs?
You can find and apply to ui designer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States in one place. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and interests, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
