UI UX Designer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ui ux designer in Texas?
UI UX design has no state-issued license in Texas, so the hiring path centers on education and portfolio. Most Texas employers look for a bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction, or graphic design, though candidates with degrees in communications or computer science and a strong portfolio are regularly hired. Texas community colleges and universities, including UT Austin and Texas A&M, offer HCI and digital design programs. A portfolio showing real projects and research process is the single strongest credential.
How much do UI UX designers make in Texas?
UI UX designers in Texas earn a median of about $60,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,340 for the lowest 10% to over $92,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ui ux designers in Texas?
Employers hiring ui ux designers in Texas right now include Photon, BetterUp, and Affirm, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of major technology campuses, financial services headquarters, and large healthcare systems means ui ux designer demand is distributed across several industries rather than concentrated in one.
Which Texas cities have the most ui ux designer jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Irving have the most ui ux designer openings in Texas. Austin leads because of its dense concentration of technology companies and SaaS startups, Dallas draws heavily from financial services and enterprise software firms headquartered in the Metroplex, and Houston's openings are driven by energy technology, healthcare systems, and large professional services employers.
Are there remote ui ux designer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 23% of ui ux designer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that most design work is screen-based and collaborative through digital tools rather than location-dependent. Research-heavy roles and early discovery work are the most consistently offered on a fully remote basis.
How can I get hired as a ui ux designer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a portfolio through academic projects, volunteer work, or redesign case studies and applying to associate or junior designer roles at mid-size Texas technology companies and healthcare organizations. Large Texas employers like Dell and H-E-B run internship pipelines that convert to full-time offers. Adjacent roles such as content strategist, visual designer, or product analyst are common lateral moves that lead into UX work, and earning a Google UX Design Certificate or Nielsen Norman credential strengthens early-career applications noticeably.
Where can I find and apply to ui ux designer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to ui ux designer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
