Underwriting Assistant Jobs in Charlotte: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a underwriting assistant job in Charlotte?
Focus on Charlotte's dense insurance and financial services corridor, particularly carriers and managing general agents based in Uptown and SouthPark. Commercial lines and specialty insurance firms are the most active local hirers. Candidates who come in with exposure to policy processing systems, basic actuarial concepts, or prior work in a brokerage or claims environment stand out in this market. A finance or business degree helps, but demonstrated attention to detail and comfort with data are equally valued locally.
Which companies hire underwriting assistants in Charlotte?
Companies currently hiring underwriting assistants in Charlotte include First National Bank, AIG, and Figure, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Charlotte's market is anchored by regional and national insurance carriers, managing general agents, and financial holding companies that maintain large underwriting operations in the city.
Are there remote underwriting assistant jobs in Charlotte?
Yes, though availability depends on the role. Underwriting assistant work that is primarily administrative and system-based tends to support remote or hybrid arrangements, while roles involving physical document review or direct team support are more often on-site. About 25% of underwriting assistant openings tied to Charlotte are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Policy data entry, rating, and file management tasks are the functions most commonly performed remotely in Charlotte-based roles.
How can I get a underwriting assistant job in Charlotte with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Charlotte is through a customer service or administrative role at a local insurance carrier or brokerage, then moving laterally once you understand policy workflows. Charlotte's large regional carriers and independent agencies regularly hire entry-level candidates for processing and support roles that feed into underwriting assistant positions. Familiarity with standard office tools and any exposure to insurance certificates, endorsements, or claims documentation gives you a clear edge when applying locally.
