You will review medical records, apply coding and billing practices, and help patients and care teams navigate insurance questions. Duties
- Prepare, submit, and track medical billing claims; investigate denials, correct errors, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Apply ICD-9, ICD-10, and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding, including diagnosis-related group (DRG) processes, as applicable.
- Review medical records and use medical terminology to verify documentation and support accurate medical coding.
- Respond to patient and payer questions with professional customer service; assist with medical collection follow-up in accordance with applicable policies.
- Maintain accurate records in electronic medical record/electronic health record (EMR/EHR) systems and use billing software and Microsoft Office tools.
Experience
- Medical office experience and familiarity with medical billing, health insurance, and healthcare claims management are important.
- Knowledge of ICD coding, CPT coding, DRG, medical terminology, and medical records is preferred.
- Experience with EMR systems, EHR systems, or combined EMR/EHR platforms is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and customer service skills are essential.
Schedule:
Monday-Thursdays 7:30-5:30
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
