Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid)
ABOUT US:
Victra is Verizon's largest premium retailer, built on operational excellence, strong governance, and financial integrity. Our Corporate Accounting team maintains world-class accounting standards and delivers accurate, reliable financial insight across the business — partnering closely with Supply Chain, Operations, FP&A, and external audit teams to protect balance sheet integrity and support the company's growth.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As Accounting Manager – Inventory & Non-Current Assets, you'll own day-to-day accounting for some of our highest-risk balance sheet areas: inventory, fixed assets, construction-in-progress (CIP), and right-of-use (ROU) lease assets. You'll bring discipline to the close process, strengthen controls, keep the business audit-ready under U.S. GAAP, and lead 1–2 offshore accounting team members to deliver accurate, timely, well-documented results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role is aligned to Victra's leadership competency framework:
Results Driven / Financial Execution & Reporting
- Own end-to-end inventory, fixed asset, CIP, and lease accounting — capitalization, reserves, depreciation, ROU assets, and disposals — under U.S. GAAP and ASC 842.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close, resolving reconciling items promptly and consistently hitting deadlines.
- Review and approve reconciliations, roll forwards, and tie-outs, and operate the key controls that safeguard company assets.
- Apply U.S. GAAP and risk awareness to complex, judgmental matters, connecting accounting priorities to company goals and scalable growth.
Customer Focus & Relationship Building / Cross-Functional Partnership & Audit Support
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and FP&A on capital spend, inventory movement, cutoff alignment, and forecasting. Deliver clear, timely, audit-ready information to stakeholders, backed by well-supported documentation.
- Build trusted relationships across Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain, FP&A, and external audit teams.
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors on inventory, fixed assets, and leases — coordinating PBC packages and inquiries.
Change Management / Process Improvement
- Identify control gaps and recurring issues, then lead sustainable remediation and process standardization.
- Challenge inefficient practices and guide the team through process or system changes with clear rationale.
Talent Management & Inspirational Leadership / Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop 1–2 offshore accounting resources through delegation, review, and regular coaching.
- Set consistent standards for accuracy, timeliness, and ownership, and give timely, specific feedback.
- Model financial integrity, sound judgment, and disciplined execution in high-risk accounting areas.
- Build confidence in the accounting function through technical credibility and dependable follow-through.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including specialized expertise in inventory and fixed asset accounting.
- Direct, hands-on experience with lease accounting under ASC 842 and ROU assets.
- Prior leadership experience, including oversight of offshore or shared-services accounting resources.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
- Hands-on proficiency with a major ERP system (Oracle, SAP, or NetSuite) in an environment with subledger complexity.
Preferred
- CPA or equivalent certification.
- Experience in retail, complex supply chains, or other inventory-intensive environments.
- Experience managing cross-functional workflows with FP&A and Operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on stabilizing foundational processes before optimizing.
WHY JOIN US:
- Paid training and professional development opportunities.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan with match options.
- Generous paid time off and holiday schedule.
- Career pathing and continuous advancement opportunities.

Accounting Manager Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting manager in North Carolina?
Most accounting manager roles in North Carolina require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance along with several years of progressive experience in staff or senior accountant positions. While a CPA license is not legally required for the role, the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners issues the CPA credential that employers strongly prefer. Candidates who pass the Uniform CPA Examination and meet North Carolina's experience requirements stand out significantly when competing for management-level roles.
Which companies hire accounting managers in North Carolina?
Employers hiring accounting managers in North Carolina right now include Jobot, Highspring, and Krispy Kreme, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's mix of large financial institutions in Charlotte, major manufacturers in the Piedmont Triad, and growing tech firms in the Research Triangle creates a broad and varied set of accounting manager openings across the state.
Which North Carolina cities have the most accounting manager jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and Durham have the most accounting manager openings in North Carolina. Charlotte drives the largest share of listings because of its dense concentration of banking, financial services, and corporate headquarters, while Raleigh reflects growth in technology, life sciences, and state government finance, and Greensboro draws from manufacturing, logistics, and regional healthcare systems.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields, since accounting manager work is largely desk-based and analytical rather than requiring physical presence. About 50% of accounting manager openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's compatibility with distributed work. Financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger oversight are the functions most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a accounting manager in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a staff accountant or senior accountant role into a supervisory position, since most North Carolina employers promote from within their accounting teams. Large organizations such as Duke Energy, Novant Health, and major Charlotte-area banks run rotational finance development programs that build the reporting and leadership skills needed for management. Earning or actively pursuing a CPA through the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners also signals readiness and accelerates consideration for management-track openings.
