Accounting Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting manager in Georgia?
The most direct path to an accounting manager role in Georgia starts with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, followed by earning a CPA license through the Georgia State Board of Accountancy, which administers the Uniform CPA Examination and requires completion of education and experience requirements before licensure. Most Georgia employers in corporate, healthcare, and government settings expect candidates to hold or be actively pursuing CPA credentials, along with several years of progressive accounting experience before moving into a management role.
Which companies hire accounting managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring accounting managers in Georgia right now include ghj, Jobot, and RSM, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large hospital systems, and logistics companies means accounting manager demand is spread across a variety of sectors beyond just financial services.
Which Georgia cities have the most accounting manager jobs?
Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Duluth have the most accounting manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the majority of listings as the state's primary corporate and financial hub, home to major headquarters and regional offices, while Augusta and Savannah generate consistent demand through healthcare systems, military installations, and expanding port and logistics operations that each require dedicated accounting management teams.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 49% of accounting manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on analysis, reporting, and software-based workflows rather than on-site operations. Financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination are the functions most commonly performed remotely, while roles involving close coordination with operations or physical inventory tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a accounting manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an accounting manager role from a senior staff accountant or senior financial analyst position after gaining exposure to supervisory tasks and close responsibilities. Large Georgia employers such as healthcare networks like Emory Healthcare or WellStar Health System and corporate shared-service centers in the Atlanta metro often promote internally from senior individual-contributor roles. Building toward a CPA through the Georgia State Board of Accountancy and gaining experience with month-end close processes or ERP systems gives candidates a clear edge over peers without credentials.
