Accounting Manager Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting manager in Washington?
The standard path in Washington is a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, followed by earning your CPA through the Washington State Board of Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam and meeting Washington's education and experience requirements. Most employers expect several years of progressive accounting experience before promoting to the manager level, and a CPA credential significantly strengthens your candidacy for roles at Washington's larger employers.
Which companies hire accounting managers in Washington?
Washington accounting manager roles are posted by Amazon, Microsoft, and Janicki Industries and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of technology headquarters, aerospace contractors, and large retail operations means accounting manager demand is spread across both corporate and subsidiary finance teams throughout the state.
Which Washington cities have the most accounting manager jobs?
Seattle, Redmond, and Bellevue have the most accounting manager openings in Washington right now. Seattle and Bellevue dominate because they are home to major technology and retail corporate headquarters, while Redmond's concentration of enterprise technology companies drives consistent demand for accounting managers within large, established finance organizations.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields, since accounting manager work is largely desk-based and analytical. About 57% of accounting manager openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the state's technology-heavy employer base. Roles focused on financial reporting, consolidations, and management accounting tend to be the most flexible, while positions with hands-on AP or AR team oversight are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a accounting manager in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a senior accountant or accounting analyst role at a Washington employer, then moving into a team lead or supervisor position before stepping into a full manager title. Large Washington employers in technology and aerospace often hire new graduates into rotational finance programs that accelerate this progression. Earning your CPA through the Washington State Board of Accountancy while working in a staff role is the single credential that most consistently opens the manager track, and experience with ERP systems gives candidates a concrete advantage when applying.
