Entry Level User Researcher Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level user researcher job?
Entry level user researcher roles reward candidates who can show real research work, even if unpaid. Build a portfolio with case studies from class projects, volunteer UX work, or personal studies that document your process from research questions through findings. Familiarity with usability testing, interviews, and tools like Figma or UserTesting gives you a concrete edge. Roles that list internships or coursework as acceptable experience are your best starting point.
Which companies hire entry level user researchers?
Companies hiring entry level user researchers right now include Google, TikTok, and Pyrovio, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, including technology companies, consumer product firms, healthcare organizations, and agencies that build digital products and want junior researchers to support larger UX teams.
Are there remote entry level user researcher jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles are still common at this level. About 38% of entry level user researcher openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which gives candidates flexibility to apply outside their immediate area. Remote postings often come from product and technology companies that run distributed UX teams and are comfortable onboarding junior researchers without in-person supervision.
Are these new grad user researcher jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior user researcher roles alongside other entry level postings. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and accepts internships, coursework, or a portfolio as proof of skill in place of full-time work history. If a posting lists a degree in HCI, psychology, or a related field and does not require prior employment, it is almost always open to new grads.
Which industries hire the most entry level user researchers?
Entry Level user researcher roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Manufacturing, and Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors hire at this level because they build user-facing digital products at scale and need junior researchers to run studies, synthesize findings, and support senior UX staff who are managing multiple projects at once.
