Vice President Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a vice president job in Chicago?
Breaking into a vice president role in Chicago means targeting the sectors that drive the most hiring: financial services concentrated in the Loop, technology firms in Fulton Market and River North, and large healthcare systems on the Near North Side. Candidates who stand out typically bring a mix of P&L ownership, cross-functional leadership, and existing relationships with Chicago-area stakeholders. Networking through industry groups tied to the Chicago Booth or Kellogg alumni communities also gives a meaningful edge.
Which companies hire vice presidents in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring vice presidents in Chicago include JPMorganChase, Deloitte, and Goldman Sachs, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's vice president market is shaped by a dense mix of global financial institutions, Fortune 500 headquarters, and high-growth technology and healthcare firms, many of which maintain their primary executive leadership functions in the city.
Are there remote vice president jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the function: strategy, finance, and technology-focused vice president roles tend to offer more flexibility, while operations and sales leadership roles generally require a regular in-person presence. About 24% of vice president openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. In Chicago specifically, hybrid arrangements anchored to Loop or Fulton Market offices are more common than fully remote positions at this seniority level.
How can I get a vice president job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is building toward a vice president title through a director or senior director role at a Chicago-area company, particularly in high-growth sectors like fintech, healthtech, or professional services where internal promotion cycles move faster. Mid-size Chicago firms and regional banks often develop leadership talent in-house more actively than large national institutions. Demonstrating ownership of a budget, team, or revenue line, even at a smaller scale, is what typically accelerates the transition at Chicago employers.
Which industries hire the most vice presidents in Chicago?
Chicago vice president roles concentrate in Investment & Asset Management, Banking & Financial Services, and Fintech, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's position as a hub for commodities trading, insurance, enterprise software, and large integrated health systems means demand for senior leaders cuts across multiple high-paying sectors simultaneously, making it one of the more active executive job markets in the Midwest.
