Front End Developer Jobs in Illinois

We are seeking an experienced Front-End Solutions Architect to own front-end

architecture across our customer-facing and internal applications. You will set

standards, establish patterns, and guide how front-end work is built and shipped

across product teams. This is a hands-on, senior individual contributor role: you

will write and ship production code alongside the team.

standard, not merely meet it.

The Team:

This role sits within BUNN's Digital Solutions organization, working across the

product teams that build our customer-facing and internal applications: a public e-commerce storefront, connected-equipment platforms, and customer and support

portals.

Front-end work at BUNN spans several product teams rather than sitting inside

one. The architect is the shared technical authority across them, partnering

closely with UX on the design system, with QA on test strategy, and with back-end

teams on the services these applications consume. The role reports to the

Director of Software Engineering.

Tech Stack:

Front end: Vue 3 Composition API , TypeScript, Vite

Front-End Solutions Architect 1Design system: shared component library, documented in Storybook

Testing: Playwright for UI and end-to-end coverage; a mix of unit and

component tooling in use today Jasmine, Jest), due for consolidation

Services consumed: Java and Spring Boot REST APIs, including Backend-for-Frontend gateways

Commerce: Broadleaf Commerce

Identity: Auth0

Infrastructure: Azure, Kubernetes, Helm

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

Lead and contribute to analysis, design, development, and testing of front-end application components.

Advise front-end development teams, clarifying technical requirements

and providing guidance on technical assignments.

Provide technical guidance and oversight to front-end developers,

ensuring adherence to best practices, design patterns, and coding

standards.

Collaborate with architects and other technical leads to ensure front-end

work stays aligned with overall technical strategy.

Architecture:

Own front-end architecture decisions across the organization's

applications, including shared component libraries and design-pattern

standards, partnering with UX on the design system and its

implementation in code.

Design and implement technical solutions using TypeScript, Vue 3, and

single-page application patterns, along with the services and APIs they

consume.

Front-End Solutions Architect 2Own front-end accessibility standards, ensuring customer-facing

applications meet WCAG 2.1 AA conformance.

Contribute to defining timetables and project plans, ensuring technical

feasibility and alignment with business requirements.

Mentoring and Coaching:

Mentor and coach front-end developers on best practices, design

patterns, and coding standards.

SDLC & Technical Delivery Practices:

Collaborate with Project Managers and Product Owners to remove

technical roadblocks and ensure front-end teams are empowered to

deliver high-quality products.

Participate in planning, estimation, stand-ups, and retrospectives to drive

technical discussions and ensure team alignment.

Communication:

Communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical

stakeholders, including business partners and project managers.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and

customer support.

Quality, Testing, and Tooling:

Establish and own the front-end testing practice: the unit, component, and

end-to-end stack, and the standards teams are held to.

Ensure high-quality front-end code through code reviews, automated

testing, and continuous integration.

Drive adoption of modern development tooling, including AI-assisted

development practices, to improve team output and consistency.

Ensure front-end applications meet organizational security and

compliance requirements, including SOC 2 controls applicable to

application development.

Set and monitor front-end performance standards for customer-facing

applications, including Core Web Vitals.

Front-End Solutions Architect 3Collaborate with QA teams to ensure front-end test plans and test cases

are aligned with technical requirements.

Requirements:

At least five years of experience designing and developing enterprise front-end applications, including at least two in a role owning architecture or

technical direction, collaborating with business partners and architects

throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, and in at least one modern

single-page application framework, with strong preference for Vue.js. Proven

experience integrating single-page applications with RESTful back-end

services and APIs, including collaborating with back-end teams on API

contract design.

Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to lead and mentor

front-end developers across multiple product teams.

Demonstrated track record as a hands-on, in-the-code contributor.

Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools in a professional

setting.

Experience with Agile methodologies such as Lean, Scrum, or Kanban.

Strong team player with excellent communication and problem-solving

abilities.

Nice to Have:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience with modern container-driven CI/CD platforms and release tooling

for front-end applications (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, JenkinsX .

Experience with Backend-for-Frontend BFF) architecture patterns.

Experience with cross-application front-end sharing strategies, such as

versioned component libraries, monorepos, or module federation.

Front-End Solutions Architect 4Experience integrating single-page applications with identity/access

management platforms (e.g., Auth0 .

Knowledge of cloud computing platforms Azure, Kubernetes).
