Solutions Director Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions director in Illinois?
Most solutions directors in Illinois move into the role after building experience in solutions engineering, account management, or technical consulting. Illinois employers typically expect a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field, and many prefer an MBA for senior-level positions. No state-issued license is required, but professional certifications in cloud platforms, project management, or enterprise software are common differentiators in Illinois hiring.
Which companies hire solutions directors in Illinois?
Employers hiring solutions directors in Illinois right now include JPMorganChase, JLL, and LG Electronics, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's concentration of corporate headquarters and regional technology hubs means many of these employers are managing large enterprise accounts that require dedicated solutions leadership.
Which Illinois cities have the most solutions director jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and Aurora have the most solutions director openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates due to its dense cluster of technology firms, financial institutions, and professional services companies, while Naperville and Schaumburg attract openings tied to the corporate campuses and regional headquarters of major tech and manufacturing employers along the I-88 corridor.
Are there remote solutions director jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles. About 60% of solutions director openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves client calls, internal strategy sessions, and digital collaboration rather than on-site presence. The portions most frequently performed remotely include account planning, solution design, and executive presentations.
How can I get hired as a solutions director in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up through a solutions engineer, sales engineer, or technical account manager role at a mid-size or enterprise Illinois employer.
