Solutions Director Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions director in California?
Most solutions directors in California reach the role by progressing through solutions engineering, technical account management, or consulting after completing a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field. California employers, particularly in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, place heavy emphasis on hands-on enterprise experience and a record of leading pre-sales or post-sales teams. An MBA from a California institution or a recognized technical credential in cloud architecture can accelerate the path into director-level roles.
Which companies hire solutions directors in California?
Employers hiring solutions directors in California right now include BKF Engineers, Gilead Sciences, and Marvell Technology, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's density of enterprise technology headquarters and large healthcare systems means hiring is sustained throughout the year rather than limited to seasonal surges.
Which California cities have the most solutions director jobs?
Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Foster City hold the most solutions director openings in California. San Francisco leads because of its concentration of enterprise software and cloud company headquarters, Los Angeles draws from its large media, healthcare, and financial services sectors, and San Diego is anchored by defense technology and life sciences employers that routinely hire at the director level.
Are there remote solutions director jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields, since solutions director work is heavily client-facing and strategy-driven rather than tied to a physical site. About 76% of solutions director openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly California tech employers have adopted flexible work. The portions of the role involving internal roadmap planning and executive reporting are the most commonly handled remotely.
How can I get hired as a solutions director in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a solutions engineer or technical account manager role first, then building toward director responsibilities over several years. Large California technology employers such as Salesforce, Oracle, and ServiceNow run structured associate solutions programs and rotational tracks that develop candidates without director-level experience. Building a portfolio of successfully closed enterprise deals or documented implementation projects, alongside a relevant cloud certification, gives candidates the strongest foundation to make that transition.
Where can I find and apply to solutions director jobs in California?
You can find and apply to solutions director jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target location, and apply directly to each position through the listing.
