Solutions Director Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions director in Massachusetts?
Most solutions directors in Massachusetts reach the role by combining a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or computer science with years of hands-on experience in solutions engineering, technical consulting, or enterprise sales. Massachusetts employers, particularly in the Boston tech corridor and Route 128 life sciences cluster, typically expect a proven record of leading client-facing solution teams before promoting into a director role. Industry certifications from AWS, Microsoft, or Salesforce strengthen candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire solutions directors in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring solutions directors in Massachusetts right now include Geode Capital Management, RSM, and UG2, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of enterprise technology firms, major financial institutions, and life sciences companies along Route 128 and in the Greater Boston area means demand from large, well-capitalized organizations is consistent throughout the year.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most solutions director jobs?
Boston, Cambridge, and Waltham have the most solutions director openings in Massachusetts. Boston drives the largest share of postings given its density of financial services firms, healthcare systems, and technology consultancies, while Waltham and Burlington attract significant hiring from enterprise software and defense technology companies with major campuses along the Route 128 corridor.
Are there remote solutions director jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many director-level roles, since solutions director work is largely client-facing, strategic, and communication-driven rather than tied to a physical site. About 83% of solutions director openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting employer flexibility for experienced candidates. The portions of the role most commonly performed remotely include solution architecture reviews, client strategy sessions, and internal stakeholder presentations.
How can I get hired as a solutions director in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a solutions engineer, technical account manager, or pre-sales consultant role first, then building toward director-level responsibilities. Large Massachusetts employers in enterprise technology and life sciences, including those based in the Waltham and Burlington technology corridors, regularly hire solutions engineers and associate consultants who have completed AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Salesforce certifications. Building a portfolio of documented client outcomes and pursuing internal promotions within a single organization is the path most Massachusetts-based solutions directors take before reaching the director title.
