Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.
About the Role
Wellington is seeking a senior commercial leader to focus on two key areas. The primary focus is to help drive the growth and strategic positioning of the firm’s Multi-Asset Solutions business globally. The second is in supporting the broader commercialization of Wellington’s Solutions platform across Multi-Asset, Quantitative Investment Group (QIG), Equity Solutions, and public/private capabilities within the Americas Institutional client segment. The role will combine strategic leadership responsibilities with hands-on client engagement.
This individual will partner closely with investment line management and senior investment leaders to help define and execute Wellington’s global multi-asset solutions go-to-market strategy, while coordinating closely with existing regional and channel-based solutions teams across institutional and wealth businesses. The successful candidate will bring deep multi-asset expertise including public privates, strong commercial instincts, and extensive experience competing within the institutional solutions marketplace, including against established OCIO providers and open-architecture models.
In parallel with the strategic multi-asset leadership mandate, the role will serve as a senior commercial representative for the broader Solutions platform within the Americas Institutional channel, helping promote Wellington’s full solutions capabilities and connecting clients with the appropriate investment expertise across Multi-Asset, QIG, Equity Solutions, and related offerings.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will combine strong investment acumen with commercial sophistication, executive presence, and strategic leadership capability. This individual will be highly collaborative, externally credible, and capable of driving both strategic direction and tangible commercial outcomes across Wellington’s Multi-Asset and broader Solutions platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with investment line management to define and execute Wellington’s global Multi-Asset Solutions commercial strategy, including determining where and how the firm can differentiate and win against established OCIO providers, consultants, and open-architecture solution models.
- Serve as a senior commercial leader for the Multi-Asset Solutions business globally, helping align commercialization efforts across regions, client channels, and investment teams.
- Take a more direct and hands-on commercial leadership role for Multi-Asset Solutions opportunities in partnership with our product specialists including helping originate, shape, and advance strategic institutional pursuits.
- Lead commercialization efforts for Multi-Asset Solutions within the Americas Institutional channel, while also promoting the broader Wellington Solutions platform across QIG, Equity Solutions, and related capabilities.
- Work closely with existing regional and channel-based solutions teams across institutional and wealth businesses to improve coordination, consistency of messaging, and commercial effectiveness for Multi-Asset Solutions.
- Establish strong partnerships with institutional business developers to broaden awareness and adoption of Wellington’s solutions capabilities across institutional clients.
- Partner closely with other product strategists to identify, advance, and appropriately transition commercial opportunities related to QIG and Equity Solutions capabilities.
- Engage directly with institutional investors, consultants, and prospects to present Wellington’s investment and solutions capabilities, uncover client challenges, and develop strategic investment dialogue.
- Act as a senior commercial bridge between investment teams and distribution teams, ensuring complex investment capabilities are translated into clear, compelling, and differentiated client solutions.
- Maintain deep awareness of institutional market trends, competitor positioning, consultant dynamics, and evolving client demands to help inform commercial priorities and strategic positioning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of industry experience, with the majority spent in senior commercialization, or multi-asset solutions business development roles at a leading global investment organization.
- Demonstrated success commercializing multi-asset solutions with institutional investors and consultants, including public private experience.
- Deep understanding of institutional portfolio construction, asset allocation, OCIO models, and public/private investment solutions.
- Strong technical investment knowledge across multi-asset, quantitative, and equity solutions - with strong emphasis on the former.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally and operate effectively within highly collaborative environments.
- Strong commercial instincts, strategic thinking capability, and credibility within the institutional multi-asset marketplace.
- This role is ideally Boston based.

Tips for Your Solutions Director Job Search
Quantify pipeline impact on your resume
Solutions directors are judged on revenue outcomes, so your resume needs to show deal sizes, win rates, and pipeline value you influenced directly. Vague phrases like 'supported sales' won't get you past the first screen. Attach numbers to every major achievement.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists solutions director openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target openings by technical domain
Solutions director roles in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and SaaS each require different depth of product knowledge. Filter your search by vertical so your application lands with hiring teams who need your specific technical background, not a generalist.
Prepare a deal-win story for interviews
Interviewers for this role almost always ask you to walk through a complex deal you closed or rescued. Prepare two or three detailed examples that show how you aligned technical scope, customer stakeholders, and internal resources to reach a signed contract.
Reframe pre-sales experience for post-sales roles
Many solutions director openings sit on the post-sales side of the house, covering implementation and expansion. If your background is pre-sales, explicitly translate your discovery and scoping skills into the language of onboarding, adoption, and renewal on your resume.
Negotiate scope authority, not just compensation
When you reach the offer stage, clarify how much autonomy you'll have over solution design and pricing exceptions. A solutions director role where every custom scope requires three approvals limits your ability to close, so treat that as part of your evaluation.
Solutions Director Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most solutions directors?
The companies hiring the most solutions directors right now include Quanta Infrastructure Solutions, Finoptima Solutions, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, with the largest share of openings in New York, Texas, and California, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is consistently strong at enterprise software vendors and large managed services providers.
How many solutions director jobs are remote?
About 35% of solutions director openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though on-site expectations vary significantly by employer and industry. Roles focused on pre-sales and enterprise software tend to offer the most location flexibility, while implementation-heavy positions more often require regular customer site visits.
How do you become a solutions director?
Most solutions directors move into the role after building a foundation in solutions engineering, technical account management, or pre-sales consulting. From there, you develop leadership experience by mentoring junior team members, owning larger deals independently, and demonstrating cross-functional influence. Certifications in relevant platforms and a record of closed enterprise business strengthen a promotion or external application case.
Can you get hired as a solutions director with limited experience?
It's uncommon but possible if your existing experience is highly relevant. Candidates who have led the technical side of a complex deal, even without a director title, can make a credible case. Applying to smaller companies or growth-stage startups where the role is being created for the first time gives you the best opening when formal seniority is still developing.
What does the solutions director interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a recruiter screen, followed by interviews with a sales leader and a technical stakeholder who will probe your product knowledge and deal methodology. Most companies then ask for a presentation or whiteboard exercise where you scope a fictional customer problem. Final rounds often include a panel with cross-functional leaders from product, customer success, or finance.
Where can I find and apply to solutions director jobs?
You can find and apply to solutions director jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to each one that fits.
