New Grad Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a new grad in California?
Becoming a new grad in California starts with completing an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in your target field. Depending on your discipline, you may need to fulfill California-specific requirements: engineers in certain fields register with the California Board for Professional Engineers, nurses must pass the NCLEX and apply to the California Board of Registered Nursing, and teachers need a California credential through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. For roles without state licensing, completing your degree and building applied experience through internships is the standard California path.
Which companies hire new grads in California?
Companies currently hiring new grads in California include NVIDIA, AHMC Healthcare, and Community Hospital of Huntington Park, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, health systems, and defense contractors means new grad pipelines tend to be structured and competitive, with formal rotational or associate programs common among larger employers.
Which California cities have the most new grad jobs?
Santa Clara, San Diego, and Monterey Park are the California cities with the most new grad openings, driven by the dense concentration of technology companies and venture-backed startups in the Bay Area, the entertainment, aerospace, and healthcare employers anchoring Los Angeles, and the life sciences and defense sectors that make San Diego one of the state's most active hiring markets for recent graduates.
Are there remote new grad jobs in California?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the field. About 17% of new grad openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with the highest share in software engineering, data science, and marketing roles where output is screen-based. Hands-on disciplines like nursing, laboratory research, and manufacturing engineering remain almost entirely on-site regardless of employer location.
How can I get hired as a new grad in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured new grad or associate programs, which large California employers run specifically for candidates without professional experience. Kaiser Permanente and Dignity Health operate new graduate nursing residencies, major defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon run engineering development programs, and technology firms across the Bay Area and Los Angeles hire through rotational associate roles. Building a portfolio of capstone projects, completing a California-based internship, and earning any relevant state credential or certification before applying materially strengthens a candidacy.
Where can I find and apply to new grad jobs in California?
You can find and apply to new grad jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated in real time. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your background and location preferences, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
