INTRODUCTION
Ever since we started in 2007, Sunrun has been at the forefront of connecting people to the cleanest energy on Earth. It’s why we’ve become the #1 home solar and battery company in America. Today, we’re on a mission to change the way the world interacts with energy, and we’re building a company and brand that puts power at the center of life. And we’re doing it by designing a dynamic culture where employee development, well-being, and safety come first. We’re unlike any other solar company. Our vertically integrated model gives us total control over every part of the energy lifecycle – from sale through installation and beyond – so you can find endless opportunities for growth. Come join a career you can grow in and a culture you can run with.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The team is on site in San Francisco, CA and we are also open to candidates within 35 miles of our Lehi, UT Corporate office.
We are looking for a highly skilled, dynamic, and exceptionally strong strategist and writer to join us as a B2B Content Marketing Manager. In this role, you won’t just manage a high-level strategy from afar; you will be the chief storyteller, a custodian of our brand voice, and a hands-on creator for our business-to-business audiences.
In this role, we are looking for someone who understands the nuances of the energy industry and can help our New Homes and Real Estate teams thrive within it. You are a versatile, fast-moving thinker who can easily shift from working with commercial stakeholders to crafting high-converting B2B marketing collateral. As a key member of the Brand and Product team, you will own the end-to-end content lifecycle: from brainstorming and research to writing, self-editing, and cross-channel distribution, to turn B2B prospects into loyal partners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Collaborative B2B Strategy: Partner closely with leaders of our B2B sales channels to understand key partner pain points, industry themes, and high-impact storytelling opportunities.
-
Narrative & Campaign Development: Develop a comprehensive B2B content strategy that connects Sunrun’s products, services, and positive homeowner outcomes into clear, persuasive narratives tailored for key audiences (such as Builders and Real Estate Developers).
-
Multi-Format Content Creation: Personally write, and oversee the development of, high-quality B2B content across a variety of formats, including video scripts, web pages, high-stakes pitch decks, customer success stories, and thought-leadership pieces.
-
Cross-Functional Production: Collaborate closely with internal design and video production teams to guide creative assets from initial copy draft to polished, final delivery.
-
Performance Analysis: Track, measure, and analyze the performance of published B2B content, using data-driven insights to constantly refine our ongoing content and distribution strategy.
-
Specialized Initiative Management: Manage and execute additional specialized content areas and campaigns based on evolving company initiatives, policy changes, and market opportunities.
WHAT YOU BRING
-
3+ years of professional writing experience in a content marketing, copywriting, journalism, or agency role.
-
Technical acumen & curiosity: You possess a strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly grasp complex concepts, whether it’s solar technology, battery storage systems, home energy management, or changing utility regulations, and translate them into clear, compelling benefits for B2B partners.
-
B2B content expertise with a proven track record of full-funnel content creation. You have a diverse portfolio displaying range, from high-stakes B2B pitch decks and thought-leadership pieces to conversion-focused web copy and customer success stories.
-
Commercial mindset: Experience tying content to growth metrics. You understand how B2B content serves a broader sales cycle and have experience supporting KPIs tied to lead generation, pipeline acceleration, or revenue.
-
Project management skills: Experience managing a calendar, coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Product, Brand), and keeping complex content pipelines on schedule.
-
Tech & AI literacy: Comfortable using CMS platforms and leveraging modern AI productivity tools to accelerate your research and outlining workflow without sacrificing the original, human quality of the final copy.
-
Industry experience a plus: Prior experience writing for or working within the construction, real estate, or home building industries is highly valued.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Content at Sunrun is not about filling a content calendar or chasing empty page views; it is a core engine for our business growth. In this role, your words will directly influence how our key B2B partners, including home builders, real estate developers, and commercial stakeholders, understand the value of residential solar and storage.
By producing sharp, high-credibility, and engaging content, you will play a critical role in unlocking new B2B acquisition channels, accelerating partner conversion, highlighting product innovation, and directly driving revenue. You will turn complex, technical, and regulatory solar concepts into compelling narratives that captivate corporate decision-makers, giving our brand a distinctive, authoritative voice in a crowded landscape.

Which companies sponsor visas for content marketing managers in California?
Technology companies are the most active sponsors for content marketing managers in California. Salesforce, Adobe, Google, Meta, and Intuit have consistent hiring patterns for this role and documented histories of H-1B visa sponsorship. Enterprise software firms in San Francisco and San Jose, along with entertainment and streaming companies in Los Angeles such as Netflix and Disney, also sponsor regularly.
Which visa types are most common for content marketing manager roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for content marketing managers in California. The role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation when a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field is a standard requirement. Candidates with an Australian passport may pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is often a faster path to California-based roles.
Which cities in California have the most content marketing manager sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area account for the largest share of content marketing manager sponsorship jobs in California, concentrated among enterprise software and SaaS companies. Los Angeles follows closely, driven by digital media, entertainment, and e-commerce employers. San Jose, San Diego, and Santa Monica also see meaningful activity, particularly in technology and health tech.
How to find content marketing manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers are open to visa sponsorship, including content marketing manager positions across California. Rather than sorting through thousands of unfiltered postings, you can browse California-specific results on Migrate Mate to find companies that have sponsored similar roles before, saving significant time during your search.
Are there state-specific factors to know when pursuing content marketing manager sponsorship in California?
California employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements when sponsoring H-1B workers, and California's high cost of living means prevailing wages for content marketing managers in cities like San Francisco tend to be set at elevated levels. California also benefits from strong university pipelines through UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC, which means sponsoring employers in this state are generally experienced with international hiring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored content marketing manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
