Job Summary
We’re looking for a Director – Content & Lifecycle Marketing to lead the team responsible for bringing our marketing communications to life across CRM, email, and automated customer journeys. This role sits at the intersection of content, technology, and execution. You’ll lead a talented team responsible for email design and production, internal communications, CRM campaign execution, marketing automation, campaign optimization, and the processes that keep it all moving. You’ll be equal parts people leader, problem solver, and champion of great work. You know how to build high-performing teams, create smart and scalable processes, use data to improve results, and turn a steady stream of requests into thoughtful, effective campaigns. We’re looking for someone who can see the big picture without losing sight of the details and that there’s always something to test, learn, optimize, or make better.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for CRM campaign execution, email design and production, internal email communications, marketing automation, and lifecycle marketing.
- Own CRM marketing execution, ensuring marketing assets and campaigns are accurately built, loaded, tested, launched, and maintained across multiple CRM and marketing platforms.
- Oversee email design and production, ensuring communications are engaging, on-brand, accurate, responsive, and optimized for performance.
- Own the campaign intake and prioritization process for marketing requests across the organization, creating clarity around requirements, timelines, ownership, capacity, and expectations.
- Measure what matters. Oversee campaign reporting and performance, identify opportunities and translate insights into action through testing, optimization, and continuous improvement.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into effective marketing solutions.
- Champion data quality and thoughtful data management, ensuring campaigns use the right audiences, segmentation, logic, and information.
- Create and maintain standards and best practices for CRM execution, automation, testing, quality assurance, documentation, and campaign governance.
- Stay curious. Keep an eye on emerging CRM, lifecycle marketing, automation, personalization, and AI capabilities and identify practical ways to make the team and our marketing better.
- Be awesome to work with. Bring a collaborative mindset, a solutions-oriented approach, and the ability to make complex work feel manageable.
Qualifications & Skills
We’re interested in great marketers and great leaders, not just candidates who check every box. If much of the following sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
- 5+ years of experience leading and developing high-performing teams, ideally within lifecycle marketing, CRM, email marketing, or a related discipline.
- A proven track record of delivering measurable results and improving marketing performance.
- Deep knowledge of CRM and marketing automation platforms; Total Expert experience highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with marketing automation, campaign development, audience segmentation, and customer journeys.
- A results-oriented mindset with the ability to turn campaign performance and data into clear recommendations and action.
- Strong understanding of email marketing best practices, including design, testing, personalization, deliverability, measurement, and optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing complex campaigns, workflows, and segments.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-moving environment.
- A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build strong relationships across teams and functions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning and adopting new technologies.
- Familiarity with mortgage industry workflows, terminology, and compliance standards is a plus, but not required.
- A proactive, curious mindset—you’re willing to learn, challenge the status quo, and look for a better way to get things done.
What Success Looks Like
You build a team that people trust and want to work with. Campaigns launch accurately and on time. Our automation gets smarter. Our processes get easier. Performance improves because we’re constantly learning from what we do. And when someone comes to the team with a great idea, your first instinct is to figure out how we can make it happen and make it work even better.

Which companies sponsor visas for content marketing managers in Illinois?
Chicago-headquartered companies with consistent sponsorship track records for marketing roles include Salesforce, Morningstar, CDW, Zebra Technologies, and Guaranteed Rate. Global agencies with large Chicago offices, such as Publicis and Leo Burnett, also sponsor content marketing positions. Technology companies with Midwest hubs, including Google and Microsoft, file sponsorship petitions for content marketing managers in Illinois with regularity.
Which visa types are most common for content marketing manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for content marketing managers in Illinois, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. L-1B visas apply when a multinational employer transfers a content marketing specialist with proprietary knowledge. O-1A petitions are filed less frequently, typically for candidates with demonstrable industry recognition or awards.
Which cities in Illinois have the most content marketing manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of content marketing manager sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, particularly in the West Loop, River North, and Fulton Market neighborhoods where technology and agency employers cluster. Evanston sees some activity tied to Northwestern University's corporate partnerships. Naperville and Schaumburg host regional offices of larger firms that occasionally sponsor, though at lower volumes than Chicago proper.
How to find content marketing manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it straightforward to identify Illinois employers actively hiring content marketing managers who will sponsor. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search by role and state to surface companies with documented sponsorship history. Migrate Mate is built for international candidates navigating the U.S. job market, so the results are relevant to your situation from the start.
Are there state-specific or role-specific considerations for content marketing managers seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa requirements beyond federal obligations, but employers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage rules when filing a Labor Condition Application for H-1B sponsorship. Chicago's competitive marketing job market means content marketing manager roles often require demonstrated experience with SEO, paid media, or B2B demand generation. Candidates with ties to Illinois universities like Northwestern or University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign sometimes benefit from alumni networks that connect international graduates to sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored content marketing manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
