About us
Jackson LLP is a boutique healthcare law firm with a client-centered ethos and friendly work environment. We represent small and mid-sized healthcare practices on regulatory and transactional business matters.
We seek a Content and Marketing Manager to run the firm’s content and marketing operation. This is a fully remote contractor position at 25 to 30 hours per week.
Position Description
This is a mid-level position. Strong editorial judgment is the core requirement. The Content and Marketing Manager runs the firm’s content pipeline from draft to publication. You will edit content for clarity, readability, and brand voice, manage the editorial calendar, keep publication on schedule, and measure what the marketing produces. You will work directly with firm leadership and coordinate the work of the firm’s marketing team, and you will be expected to bring well-reasoned, data-supported recommendations to the table.
Responsibilities
- Edit blog posts, feature pages, and other written content for clarity, readability, and brand voice, delivering near-publication-quality drafts for attorney review.
- Manage the editorial calendar and content pipeline in our project management system, tracking assignments and keeping production on schedule.
- Assign and scope projects for the firm’s content team.
- Manage recurring marketing content, including LinkedIn posts, Google Business Profile updates, and Mailchimp newsletters.
- Optimize content for search and execute against the firm’s SEO roadmap, including keyword research and content gap analysis.
- Coordinate publication and site updates with the firm’s website team.
- Review and art-direct freelance design work, including ebooks, logos, and web assets, and evaluate designers when new work arises.
- Track marketing performance and report regularly on lead flow and related pipeline metrics.
- Identify opportunities to update, consolidate, or expand existing content, and pitch growth initiatives supported by data.
Requirements
- Experience running a content operation or editorial workflow.
- Working knowledge of on-page SEO, including proficiency with a major SEO platform (such as Ahrefs or Semrush) for keyword research and content gap analysis.
- Analytics literacy, including Google Search Console and Google Analytics, and comfort owning recurring performance reporting.
- Ability to art-direct and quality-check freelance design work is required; hands-on design skills (Canva, Adobe, Figma) are a plus.
- Familiarity with an email marketing platform (such as Mailchimp) and WordPress.
- Prior content work for professional services audiences (legal, medical, accounting, financial advisory, or consulting) is strongly preferred.
- Organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment.
- Personable, friendly, and clear in written communication.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
Hours and Location
- Independent contractor engagement, 25 to 30 hours per week to start, with room to grow
- Fully remote; candidates may be located anywhere in the United States
- Hours are flexible and not fixed to a set schedule
To Apply
Submit a resume, samples of content work with a brief note on your specific role in each (a before-and-after editing sample is especially welcome), and a brief statement describing your experience editing or managing content for professional services audiences. Applications without all three will not be reviewed. Finalists will complete a paid project on actual firm content before any offer is made.

Which companies sponsor visas for content marketing managers in Illinois?
Chicago-headquartered companies with consistent sponsorship track records for marketing roles include Salesforce, Morningstar, CDW, Zebra Technologies, and Guaranteed Rate. Global agencies with large Chicago offices, such as Publicis and Leo Burnett, also sponsor content marketing positions. Technology companies with Midwest hubs, including Google and Microsoft, file sponsorship petitions for content marketing managers in Illinois with regularity.
Which visa types are most common for content marketing manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for content marketing managers in Illinois, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. L-1B visas apply when a multinational employer transfers a content marketing specialist with proprietary knowledge. O-1A petitions are filed less frequently, typically for candidates with demonstrable industry recognition or awards.
Which cities in Illinois have the most content marketing manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of content marketing manager sponsorship opportunities in Illinois, particularly in the West Loop, River North, and Fulton Market neighborhoods where technology and agency employers cluster. Evanston sees some activity tied to Northwestern University's corporate partnerships. Naperville and Schaumburg host regional offices of larger firms that occasionally sponsor, though at lower volumes than Chicago proper.
How to find content marketing manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it straightforward to identify Illinois employers actively hiring content marketing managers who will sponsor. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search by role and state to surface companies with documented sponsorship history. Migrate Mate is built for international candidates navigating the U.S. job market, so the results are relevant to your situation from the start.
Are there state-specific or role-specific considerations for content marketing managers seeking sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois does not impose state-level visa requirements beyond federal obligations, but employers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage rules when filing a Labor Condition Application for H-1B sponsorship. Chicago's competitive marketing job market means content marketing manager roles often require demonstrated experience with SEO, paid media, or B2B demand generation. Candidates with ties to Illinois universities like Northwestern or University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign sometimes benefit from alumni networks that connect international graduates to sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored content marketing manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
