Which companies sponsor visas for dietitians in California?
Large hospital networks are the most active sponsors for dietitian roles in California. Kaiser Permanente, Dignity Health, Cedars-Sinai, and UCSF Health have established HR processes for H-1B and other work visas. Long-term care and dialysis providers such as DaVita and Fresenius Kidney Care also hire dietitians at scale across California and have documented sponsorship histories.
Which visa types are most common for dietitian roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for dietitians in California, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition. Some positions may also support TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals. Employers in California's large nonprofit hospital sector are generally familiar with both categories.
Which cities in California have the most dietitian sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Sacramento account for the largest share of dietitian sponsorship openings in California. Los Angeles has the highest volume overall, driven by its concentration of major medical centers and county health facilities. The San Francisco Bay Area attracts dietitians into research and clinical settings through UCSF and Stanford Health Care.
How to find dietitian visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find dietitian visa sponsorship jobs filtered specifically to California. The platform lists roles from employers who have sponsored work visas in the past, so you can focus your search on California-based hospitals, health systems, and care facilities that are open to international candidates rather than sorting through postings that don't address sponsorship at all.
Are there any California-specific considerations for dietitians seeking visa sponsorship?
California requires dietitians to hold a state license from the California Board of Registered Nursing, which oversees dietitian certification alongside the national Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential from CDR. Employers initiating H-1B sponsorship must also file a Labor Condition Application confirming the offered wage meets California's prevailing wage level, which tends to be higher than the national average given the state's cost of living.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored dietitian jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
