Which companies sponsor visas for healthcare project managers in California?
Large integrated health systems are the most active sponsors in California. Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, Dignity Health, Cedars-Sinai, and UCLA Health have all filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for project management roles. Digital health companies headquartered in the Bay Area, including those focused on health IT and electronic health records, also sponsor regularly. University-affiliated medical centers tend to have established immigration processes compared to smaller regional providers.
Which visa types are most common for healthcare project manager roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for healthcare project managers in California, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in health administration, business, or a clinical field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with a master's degree may also pursue EB-2 National Interest Waiver petitions if their work benefits the U.S. healthcare system more broadly, though employer-sponsored pathways remain the primary route for most applicants.
Which cities in California have the most healthcare project manager sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area leads in sponsorship volume, driven by health IT companies and large hospital networks concentrated in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. Los Angeles is the second major hub, home to Cedars-Sinai, UCLA Health, and a dense cluster of regional hospitals. Sacramento also sees consistent demand given its concentration of state health agency contractors and Sutter Health operations. San Diego has a growing base tied to biotech-adjacent healthcare organizations.
How to find healthcare project manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse healthcare project manager roles in California without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. Search by role and state to see which California employers are actively hiring and have a documented history of sponsorship. Filtering by major metro areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Sacramento helps narrow results to the markets with the highest sponsorship volume for this role.
Are there state-specific considerations for healthcare project managers seeking sponsorship in California?
California's Department of Industrial Relations sets prevailing wage floors that employers must meet when filing Labor Condition Applications, and the state's high cost of living means prevailing wages for project management roles here tend to be among the highest in the country. California also has strict worker protection laws that apply regardless of immigration status. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of California system are cap-exempt H-1B employers, meaning they can file petitions outside the annual lottery window.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored healthcare project manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
