TikTok Video-On-Demand (VOD) is a world-leading video platform that provides multimedia storage, delivery, transcoding services and playback, uploading SDKs. We are building the next generation VOD platform which provides excellent experiences for billions of users around the world.

We're looking for senior software engineers to join the VoD mobile SDK team! Our team's mission is to empower TikTok content consumption by enhancing playback SDK and related capacities and performance, what's more, we are also responsible for building fundamental media capabilities and components for the TikTok product, including playback controls, subtitles, translations, dubbing, danmaku, etc. Join our team, you will focus on building mobile SDK related to multimedia and network technologies which deliver the best user experience on a huge variety of mobile platforms for TikTok users around the world.

Responsibilities

- Utilize iOS multithreading and locking to solve online performance issues
- Design mobile applications, including front-end UI logic and back-end business logic for iOS platform
- Design and implement user interfaces and scripts for mobile applications using Objective-C, Swift, JavaScript, or React Native
- Maintain and debug iOS mobile applications
- Optimize performance for iOS mobile applications using xCode and VSCode

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience
- Strong expertise in iOS multithreading and locking mechanisms to solve online performance issues
- Proficiency in designing both front-end UI logic and back-end business logic for iOS platforms
- Experience with performance optimization for iOS mobile applications using Xcode and VSCode
- Strong foundation in OOP principles, design patterns, and database design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working with video streaming and VOD technologies
- Knowledge of multimedia frameworks and SDK development
- Experience with network technologies and protocols relevant to video delivery
- Experience working in a large-scale, distributed system environment

COMPENSATION

- Compensation Description (Annually): The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $212800 - $387600 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
