Which companies sponsor visas for product managers in California?
Large tech companies are the most consistent sponsors, including Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, and Intuit. Mid-size and growth-stage companies headquartered in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and San Diego also file H-1B petitions for product managers regularly. DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data confirms California employers account for a significant share of all H-1B filings in product management roles nationally.
Which visa types are most common for product manager roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for product managers in California, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or business. L-1B transfers are also used when candidates move from an overseas office of a California-based multinational. Australian nationals sometimes pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and is frequently used at California tech employers.
Which cities in California have the most product manager sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and San Francisco proper, accounts for the largest concentration of sponsored product manager roles in California. Los Angeles is a strong secondary market, particularly in adtech, entertainment technology, and e-commerce. San Diego has a smaller but growing cluster, especially in biotech and defense technology companies that hire technical product managers.
How to find product manager visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to filter product manager roles by California location without sorting through jobs that don't offer sponsorship. Migrate Mate's job board surfaces employers with an active H-1B filing history in product management, saving significant research time. Creating a profile and setting up California-specific product manager alerts helps you respond quickly when new roles are posted.
Are there any California-specific factors that affect product manager visa sponsorship?
California's high cost of living means Department of Labor prevailing wages for product managers are among the highest in the country, which affects what employers must offer to file a compliant Labor Condition Application. California also feeds significant product manager talent pipelines through UC Berkeley, Stanford, UCLA, and USC, so competition is intense. Employers in regulated industries like fintech, healthcare technology, and defense may have additional hiring compliance requirements that can affect sponsorship timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product manager jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
