Which companies sponsor visas for user experience designers in California?
Apple, Google, Meta, Adobe, Salesforce, and Airbnb are among the most active sponsors for UX designers in California, based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data. Mid-size product companies like Figma, Intuit, and Workday also file regularly. Enterprise software firms and consumer tech startups concentrated in the Bay Area and Los Angeles represent the broadest range of sponsoring employers for UX roles.
Which visa types are most common for user experience design roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for UX designers in California, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, graphic design, cognitive science, or a related field. Australian citizens may use the E-3 visa, which has no lottery. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa category for certain design-related classifications.
Which cities in California have the most user experience design sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and San Jose account for the largest share of UX design sponsorship filings in California, driven by the concentration of product-led technology companies in Silicon Valley. Los Angeles is a growing hub, particularly for UX roles in entertainment technology, e-commerce, and creative software. San Diego has a smaller but active market through biotech and defense tech firms that employ UX researchers and product designers.
How to find user experience design visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for user experience design roles in California without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. You can narrow results by city, company size, and seniority level. Because California's UX market moves quickly, checking Migrate Mate regularly gives you an up-to-date view of which employers are actively hiring and sponsoring.
Are there state-specific considerations for UX designers seeking visa sponsorship in California?
California employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific metropolitan area where the UX designer will work, meaning wages in San Francisco are benchmarked higher than in smaller California metro areas. California's strong university pipeline from UC San Diego, Stanford, and Carnegie Mellon's Silicon Valley campus means competition for sponsored roles is high. Employers in California are also subject to state labor laws that can affect the structure of sponsorship agreements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored user experience design jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
