About Checkr
Checkr is building the data platform to power safe and fair decisions. Established in 2014, Checkr’s innovative technology and robust data platform help customers assess risk and ensure safety and compliance to build trusted workplaces and communities. Checkr has over 100,000 customers including DoorDash, Coinbase, Lyft, Instacart, and Airtable. We’re a team that thrives on solving complex problems with innovative solutions that advance our mission. Checkr is recognized on Forbes Cloud 100 2025 List and is a Y Combinator 2024 Breakthrough Company.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join Truework and help shape the end-to-end experiences that power income verification for mortgages and other lending use cases. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to design intuitive workflows for complex, high-trust domains—balancing borrower ease, lender clarity, and operational realities. This is a hands-on product design role with high ownership: you’ll drive discovery through execution, bring strong craft, and help the team make great decisions through clear thinking and excellent communication.
What You’ll Do
- Own design for key Truework product areas across borrower, lender, and internal operational experiences (as applicable), from discovery through launch and iteration.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to define problems, shape roadmaps, and deliver high-quality solutions that align user needs with business outcomes.
- Simplify complex workflows (verification requests, document collection, consent/authorization, status visibility, exception handling) into clear, user-friendly experiences.
- Use AI-assisted design and development tools to rapidly prototype, validate, and—when appropriate—implement lightweight UI changes in code to improve iteration speed and overall product quality.
- Design for trust and clarity in a sensitive financial domain—prioritizing transparency, error prevention, accessibility, and confidence-building UI patterns.
- Translate insights into outcomes by combining qualitative research, stakeholder input, and product data to propose, test, and refine solutions.
- Create thoughtful interaction and visual design across responsive web and/or platform surfaces, producing clear specs and assets for engineering.
- Facilitate alignment with workshops, design reviews, and strong storytelling—helping teams move from ambiguity to decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with partners such as Customer Success, Sales, Compliance/Legal, Data, and Operations to ensure designs work in the real world.
- Contribute to design systems and standards to improve consistency, speed, and quality across Truework.
What You Bring
- You have 5–8+ years of product design experience (or equivalent), with a strong track record of shipping high-quality work.
- Your portfolio demonstrates end-to-end thinking: problem framing, exploration, rationale, collaboration, iteration, and measurable impact.
- You’re comfortable working in complex domains where edge cases matter, and you can distill that complexity into simple, usable flows.
- You have strong product instincts—you know how to balance user needs, business goals, technical constraints, and timeline realities.
- You’re experienced in collaborative, cross-functional environments, influencing decisions through clarity rather than authority.
- You can independently plan and execute lightweight research (interviews, usability testing, concept validation) and partner effectively with researchers when available.
- You sweat the details: interaction patterns, content clarity, information hierarchy, and accessibility best practices.
- An A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, lending, mortgage, identity, compliance-heavy, or other high-trust regulated spaces.
- Experience designing B2B / B2B2C products, especially workflows used by operations teams or external partners.
- Familiarity with design systems, documentation, and scalable component thinking.
- Experience designing for secure data, consent, and privacy-forward user experiences.
What You’ll Get
- A fast-paced and collaborative environment
- Learning and development allowance
- Competitive cash and equity compensation, and opportunity for advancement
- 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Up to $25K reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental planning services
- Flexible PTO policy
- Monthly wellness stipend

Which companies sponsor visas for creative designers in Colorado?
Several large Colorado employers have sponsored creative designer roles, including Lockheed Martin, Dish Network, Vertafore, and Ibotta. Denver's agency scene, including firms serving the outdoor, health, and tech sectors, also sponsors international talent. Boulder-based companies in the SaaS and consumer tech space have a track record of filing H-1B petitions for design roles requiring specialized visual or UX expertise.
Which visa types are most common for creative designers in Colorado?
The H-1B is the most common visa for creative designers in Colorado, but the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific design-related field. Designers with extraordinary ability or recognition, such as award-winning portfolio work or industry publications, may qualify for the O-1A. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying design roles can explore the TN visa as a faster alternative.
Which cities in Colorado have the most creative designer sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the majority of creative designer sponsorship activity in Colorado, driven by its concentration of tech companies, marketing agencies, and media firms. Boulder follows closely, with a strong startup and SaaS employer base that regularly hires UX and brand designers. Colorado Springs has a smaller but active market tied to defense contractors and government-adjacent firms that occasionally sponsor design roles.
How to find creative designer visa sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you can browse creative designer roles in Colorado without sifting through listings that won't support international candidates. The platform is built for job seekers who need sponsorship, covering employers across Denver, Boulder, and the broader Front Range. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate gives you a targeted list of active openings from employers open to sponsoring designers.
Are there state-specific considerations for creative designers pursuing sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers to disclose compensation ranges in job postings, which gives international candidates useful context when evaluating whether a role meets H-1B prevailing wage requirements before applying. The state's strong outdoor, wellness, and tech brand industries create consistent demand for specialized creative talent. Colorado's university programs at CU Boulder and Colorado State also feed local design pipelines, so international applicants benefit from targeting employers who recruit beyond local graduates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored creative designer jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
