Which healthcare companies sponsor J-1 visas in Colorado?
UCHealth, Children's Hospital Colorado, SCL Health (now Intermountain Health), Denver Health, and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center are among the healthcare employers with documented J-1 sponsorship activity in Colorado. Academic medical centers and large hospital systems are the most active sponsors, as they frequently host exchange visitors through residency, fellowship, and research training programs.
Which cities in Colorado have the most healthcare J-1 sponsorship jobs?
Denver and Aurora concentrate the highest volume of healthcare J-1 positions, driven by the Anschutz Medical Campus and the major hospital systems anchored there. Colorado Springs has a growing healthcare sector with employers like UCHealth Memorial and Penrose-St. Francis. Fort Collins and Boulder also host clinical and research opportunities tied to regional medical facilities and university-affiliated programs.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for J-1 sponsorship?
Physician residency and fellowship positions are the most common J-1 healthcare roles, typically sponsored through Exchange Visitor Programs designated by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Clinical research coordinators, postdoctoral research associates, and certain allied health training positions can also qualify, provided the role meets the J-1 program's structured exchange or training objectives and is hosted by a designated sponsor organization.
How do I find healthcare J-1 sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for healthcare J-1 sponsorship jobs in Colorado, showing verified employer sponsorship history so you can focus on organizations that have actively sponsored exchange visitors. Search by role type, city, and visa category to surface relevant openings at Colorado hospitals, academic medical centers, and research institutions without sorting through listings from employers with no J-1 track record.
Are there any state-specific considerations for J-1 healthcare sponsorship in Colorado?
Colorado's J-1 waiver program through the State 30 Conrad waiver allows foreign medical graduates who complete residency on a J-1 visa to avoid the two-year home-country return requirement by committing to practice in a designated shortage area for at least three years. Colorado's Department of Public Health and Environment administers the state's Conrad 30 allocation, and positions in Health Professional Shortage Areas across rural and frontier Colorado are particularly relevant for physicians pursuing this pathway.
