Position Overview:
As a Construction & Purchasing Intern for Treehouse Builders, you will gain hands-on exposure to both vertical construction operations and purchasing/procurement processes that support residential development projects. This hybrid internship is designed for students interested in understanding how on-site construction execution and upstream purchasing decisions work together to deliver successful projects. The role will be based in the Denver area with a mix of onsite field experience and office/remote purchasing support.
The ideal candidate is a Junior or Senior studying Construction Management, Supply Chain, or a related field, with an interest in real estate development, homebuilding, and materials procurement.
What You Will Do:
Construction & Field Support:
- Assist in coordinating vertical construction project activities while ensuring alignment with schedules and milestones
- Work closely with on-site teams to observe and support framing, layout, structural inspections, and quality control activities
- Participate in safety meetings and site walks to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Maintain organized project documentation including plans, specifications, change orders, and field reports
- Support preparation of construction updates and reports for internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve real-time field challenges
Purchasing & Procurement:
- Support the purchasing team with material take-offs, bid packages, and vendor comparisons
- Assist with tracking purchase orders, delivery schedules, and material lead times
- Help maintain purchasing logs, pricing matrices, and vendor documentation
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure materials are ordered accurately and delivered on time
- Learn how purchasing decisions impact budgets, schedules, and field execution
- Assist in reviewing invoices and ensuring alignment with purchase orders and contracts
Learning & Development:
- Learn and utilize construction and purchasing software tools (e.g., Excel, Smartsheets, Brix)
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and questions to discussions
- Engage in continuous learning through workshops, training sessions, and mentorship opportunities

Build professional relationships across construction, purchasing, and development teams

Occasional travel may be necessary as needed
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of this role with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ideally, You'll Have:
- Junior or Senior standing in Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field
- General knowledge of construction principles and interest in purchasing/procurement
- Ability to support onsite work in the Denver area
You'll crush it if you have experience with:
- Excel, Smartsheets, Brix, Word, or PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn both field operations and backend purchasing processes
- Strong communication skills and comfort working across teams
