Which companies sponsor visas for finance interns in Florida?
Large financial institutions with significant Florida operations are the most consistent sponsors for finance intern roles. Citigroup's Miami hub, Raymond James in St. Petersburg, and Bank of America's Tampa offices have all sponsored intern-level positions. Multinational corporations with Florida regional headquarters also sponsor finance interns, as their global structure typically gives them existing visa sponsorship infrastructure compared to smaller local firms.
Which visa types are most common for finance intern roles in Florida?
F-1 students on Optional Practical Training (OPT) are the most common visa holders filling finance intern positions in Florida. CPT (Curricular Practical Training) is also used for students completing internships as part of their degree program. J-1 visa exchange visitor visas appear in structured internship programs at larger institutions. Full H-1B visa sponsorship for intern-level roles is uncommon, as most employers reserve H-1B petitions for full-time, post-graduation positions.
Which cities in Florida have the most finance intern sponsorship jobs?
Miami is Florida's dominant hub for finance intern sponsorship, driven by its concentration of international banks, private equity firms, and Latin American corporate offices. Tampa comes second, anchored by Raymond James, Citi, and a growing fintech sector. Orlando has a smaller but active finance intern market tied to hospitality-sector corporate finance and healthcare industry back-office operations. Jacksonville also has a presence through financial services and insurance company headquarters.
How to find finance intern visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters finance intern jobs specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you can browse Florida opportunities without sorting through roles that won't support international candidates. Search by the finance intern role type and filter to Florida to see current openings from employers who have actively sponsored. Focusing on Miami and Tampa in your search will surface the highest concentration of sponsoring employers in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for finance intern visa sponsorship in Florida?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects how prevailing wage calculations compare to states like New York or California. Florida universities including the University of Florida and University of Miami have strong pipelines into regional finance internship programs, and employers hiring through these programs are often more familiar with F-1 OPT and CPT requirements. Miami's bilingual business environment also means Spanish proficiency is a competitive advantage for finance intern candidates targeting Latin American-focused firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance intern jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
