Which companies sponsor visas for finance interns in Texas?
Large financial institutions and professional services firms with significant Texas footprints are the most active sponsors for finance intern roles. JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Deloitte, PwC, and EY all have offices in Houston and Dallas with internship programs that have historically included visa sponsorship. Energy companies like ExxonMobil and Chevron, headquartered in the Houston area, also hire finance interns and have sponsored international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for finance intern roles in Texas?
Most international finance interns in Texas work under F-1 OPT or CPT, which allows students at accredited U.S. universities to work in a field related to their degree without requiring employer-sponsored visa petitions. For interns converting to full-time roles, H-1B visa sponsorship becomes relevant. Finance roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B requirements given the degree-level expectations in fields like accounting, economics, or finance.
Which cities in Texas have the most finance intern sponsorship jobs?
Houston and Dallas are the primary markets for finance intern sponsorship in Texas. Houston's energy sector drives demand for treasury, financial analysis, and corporate finance interns, while Dallas hosts major banking, private equity, and financial services firms. Austin is a growing option, particularly with technology companies that maintain finance and corporate development functions. San Antonio has a smaller but active financial services presence through USAA and regional banks.
How to find finance intern visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Texas finance intern roles where employers are open to sponsoring international candidates. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship status is often unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces relevant finance intern postings across Houston, Dallas, and Austin so you can focus applications on employers already set up to support visa processes.
Are there any Texas-specific considerations for finance interns seeking visa sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects net compensation calculations but does not change federal visa or prevailing wage requirements. Finance intern roles tied to F-1 OPT must be directly related to the student's degree program. Texas's large public university system, including UT Austin, Texas A&M, and UT Dallas, produces a significant pipeline of international finance students, meaning competition for sponsoring employers' intern slots can be meaningful at target firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored finance intern jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
