Which technology companies sponsor H-2B visas in Florida?
H-2B sponsorship in Florida's technology sector comes primarily from IT staffing firms, managed service providers, and companies with temporary project-based needs. Employers in software support, network infrastructure, and technical operations have filed H-2B petitions in Florida. Because H-2B is designed for temporary nonagricultural work, technology sponsors tend to be project-driven rather than product companies hiring for permanent engineering roles.
Which cities in Florida have the most technology H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Orlando, Miami, and Tampa account for the largest share of technology employment in Florida and are the most common locations for H-2B technology filings. Orlando's proximity to simulation and defense technology contractors, Miami's growing fintech and IT services sector, and Tampa's concentration of cybersecurity and data firms make these three metros the most active areas for temporary technology work sponsorship.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural positions, so qualifying technology roles are generally project-based or seasonal in nature, such as IT support technicians, field service engineers, systems installers, and network operations staff brought in for a defined engagement. Ongoing software engineering or product development roles do not typically fit the H-2B temporary need requirement, which requires employers to demonstrate the position is genuinely time-limited.
How do I find technology H-2B sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find technology H-2B sponsorship jobs in Florida. The platform aggregates visa-sponsored positions and lets you filter specifically by visa type and state, so you can browse verified H-2B technology openings in Florida without sorting through listings that don't offer sponsorship. Given how few Florida tech employers file H-2B petitions, using a targeted tool like Migrate Mate saves significant time.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for H-2B technology sponsorship?
Florida's large defense, simulation, and IT services industries create pockets of genuine temporary technology demand that can support H-2B filings. However, H-2B has a national annual cap of 66,000 visas split across two semi-annual periods, so timing your application matters. Florida employers must also obtain a temporary labor certification from the Department of Labor before filing with USCIS, confirming that no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B technology jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
