Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for ML engineers?
Florida has a range of employers with H-1B visa sponsorship histories for ML engineering roles. Lockheed Martin and L3Harris sponsor through their defense and aerospace divisions in Orlando. Chewy, headquartered in Plantation, has filed for ML and data science roles. Health systems like AdventHealth and academic institutions like the University of Florida also sponsor ML talent regularly.
Which visa types are most common for ML engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for ML engineers in Florida, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates with extraordinary ability may pursue the O-1A. Australians can consider the E-3 visa, and Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under the TN visa using the engineer or mathematician classification.
Which cities in Florida have the most ML engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Miami leads for ML sponsorship activity, driven by fintech, healthtech, and a growing startup ecosystem. Orlando is strong in defense, simulation, and tourism tech, with contractors like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman present. Tampa has expanding opportunities in financial services and healthcare analytics. Gainesville and Tampa Bay also benefit from University of Florida and USF research commercialization pipelines.
How to find ml engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters ML engineer jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you are not sifting through listings that do not apply to international candidates. Search Florida on Migrate Mate to see active ML engineer roles from employers with documented H-1B and other sponsorship histories in the state. Filtering by role and location helps you focus on employers actively hiring in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for ML engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since net compensation is higher relative to states like California or New York at equivalent gross pay. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determination for ML engineer roles in Florida reflects metro-level data, so wages in Miami and Orlando differ from smaller markets. Florida's defense contractor concentration also means some roles require U.S. citizenship or clearance eligibility, limiting sponsorship options in that segment.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ml engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
