Which companies sponsor visas for pharmacy interns in Florida?
Large hospital systems and retail pharmacy chains are the most common sponsors for pharmacy intern roles in Florida. Employers like AdventHealth, Baptist Health South Florida, BayCare Health System, and Publix Pharmacy have histories of hiring internationally. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Florida and University of Miami also sponsor interns, particularly those enrolled in accredited pharmacy programs with OPT or CPT work authorization.
Which visa types are most common for pharmacy intern roles in Florida?
Most pharmacy interns in Florida work under F-1 OPT or CPT, which allows students enrolled in U.S. pharmacy programs to gain practical training without requiring employer-sponsored petitions. After graduation, H-1B visa sponsorship becomes the primary long-term pathway, though it requires employer willingness to file a petition and is subject to the annual cap and lottery. J-1 visa exchange visitor status is occasionally used for structured training programs at hospital systems.
Which cities in Florida have the most pharmacy intern sponsorship jobs?
Miami and Orlando are the most active markets for pharmacy intern roles in Florida, driven by large hospital networks, retail pharmacy density, and proximity to pharmacy schools. Tampa follows closely, anchored by BayCare and Tampa General Hospital. Jacksonville has a growing healthcare sector with employers like Mayo Clinic Florida and UF Health. South Florida's multilingual patient population also creates demand for interns with Spanish or Creole language skills.
How to find pharmacy intern visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter pharmacy intern roles by state to see Florida-specific openings with sponsorship information surfaced directly. This saves significant time compared to researching individual employer immigration policies. Migrate Mate is particularly useful for identifying which Florida employers have active sponsorship histories for pharmacy intern positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for pharmacy interns seeking sponsorship in Florida?
Florida requires pharmacy interns to hold an active intern registration issued by the Florida Board of Pharmacy, which is a prerequisite before beginning any supervised practice hours. International students should confirm their registration is in order before starting OPT or CPT. Florida's large number of accredited pharmacy schools, including the University of Florida College of Pharmacy and Nova Southeastern University, creates a strong pipeline of candidates, meaning sponsoring employers do have competitive applicant pools to evaluate.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmacy intern jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
