Which companies sponsor visas for pharmacy interns in Minnesota?
Large health systems are the most active sponsors for pharmacy intern roles in Minnesota. M Health Fairview, Mayo Clinic, Allina Health, and HealthPartners have histories of supporting international hires within their pharmacy programs. Retail pharmacy chains with a significant Minnesota presence, such as CVS and Walgreens, have also sponsored visa holders, though sponsorship decisions vary by location, role, and individual hiring circumstances.
Which visa types are most common for pharmacy intern roles in Minnesota?
Most international pharmacy interns in Minnesota work under F-1 OPT or STEM OPT authorization while completing their PharmD programs at institutions like the University of Minnesota. Employers willing to hire beyond OPT typically file H-1B petitions, as pharmacy roles generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring a professional degree. J-1 exchange visitor status is less common but appears occasionally in academic medical center training programs.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most pharmacy intern sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and St. Paul account for the largest share of pharmacy intern openings in Minnesota, driven by the concentration of hospital systems, retail pharmacies, and the University of Minnesota's academic health network. Rochester is a notable secondary market due to Mayo Clinic's large pharmacy department. Duluth and suburban Twin Cities communities also generate openings, particularly within regional hospital and clinic networks affiliated with larger health systems.
How to find pharmacy intern visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter pharmacy intern roles in Minnesota by visa sponsorship availability. Because sponsorship details are rarely prominent in standard job postings, using a platform built around that filter saves significant time. Migrate Mate aggregates roles from Minnesota health systems and pharmacy employers, making it easier to identify positions where sponsorship has been offered or is likely to be considered.
Are there state-specific considerations for pharmacy interns seeking visa sponsorship in Minnesota?
Minnesota requires pharmacy interns to hold a valid intern license issued by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, regardless of immigration status. International students must ensure their OPT or visa authorization is in place before their internship begins, as the Board verifies lawful work authorization during the licensing process. The University of Minnesota's College of Pharmacy has an established pipeline into major Minnesota health systems, giving its graduates a practical advantage when pursuing sponsored positions locally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmacy intern jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
