Which companies sponsor visas for pharmacy interns in Oklahoma?
The most active sponsors for pharmacy intern roles in Oklahoma include large hospital systems such as Integris Health, SSM Health, and OU Health, alongside national pharmacy chains like CVS Health and Walgreens. Academic medical centers affiliated with the University of Oklahoma are also known to support international pharmacy students, particularly those on OPT or pursuing H-1B visa sponsorship after graduation.
Which visa types are most common for pharmacy intern roles in Oklahoma?
Most international pharmacy interns in Oklahoma work under F-1 OPT or Curricular Practical Training (CPT) during their degree program at institutions like the University of Oklahoma. After completing the PharmD, many transition to H-1B sponsorship for full-time pharmacist or advanced intern roles. The J-1 visa is less commonly used for pharmacy interns specifically, but some hospital exchange programs do accommodate it.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most pharmacy intern sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa together account for the majority of pharmacy intern sponsorship opportunities in the state. Oklahoma City benefits from the concentration of OU Health, Integris Health, and SSM Health facilities, while Tulsa is home to Saint Francis Health System and Ascension St. John. Smaller markets like Norman and Edmond have occasional openings, primarily through retail pharmacy chains.
How to find pharmacy intern visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find pharmacy intern roles in Oklahoma where employers are open to visa sponsorship. The platform filters jobs by role and state, so you can focus specifically on Oklahoma pharmacy intern listings without sorting through positions that do not support international candidates. Checking hospital system career pages alongside Migrate Mate gives the most complete view of available openings.
Are there state-specific considerations for pharmacy interns seeking visa sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma requires pharmacy interns to hold a valid intern license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, which international students must obtain before practicing, regardless of visa status. University of Oklahoma PharmD students on F-1 visas should confirm that their CPT or OPT authorization aligns with their intern license application timeline. Employers at Oklahoma's larger health systems are generally familiar with these requirements, but confirming sponsorship intent early in the hiring process is important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmacy intern jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
