Which companies in Georgia sponsor visas for senior software development engineers?
Atlanta-based companies with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for senior software development engineer roles include NCR Voyix, Global Payments, Cox Enterprises, Fiserv's Georgia operations, and Dell Technologies' Atlanta offices. Georgia's fintech corridor also includes mid-size firms and consultancies that sponsor engineers regularly. Large employers with substantial Georgia engineering headcount tend to have established immigration processes compared to early-stage startups.
Which visa types are most common for senior software development engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa for senior software development engineers in Georgia, as the role typically meets the specialty occupation standard requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B or O-1 visa status may transfer to Georgia-based employers. TN visa status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose employer can document the software engineer classification under USMCA.
Which cities in Georgia have the most senior software development engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the overwhelming majority of senior software development engineer sponsorship jobs in Georgia, particularly in Midtown, Buckhead, and the Perimeter Center area. Alpharetta has developed a notable technology cluster with companies like McKesson and NCR facilities. Savannah and Augusta have smaller but emerging tech presences, primarily tied to logistics technology and defense contractors respectively.
How to find senior software development engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for senior software development engineer roles in Georgia without sifting through positions that don't sponsor. You can browse by state and role to see which Georgia employers are actively hiring and sponsoring. This is more targeted than general job searches because listings are screened for sponsorship eligibility from the start.
Are there any Georgia-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for senior software development engineers?
Georgia's concentration of fintech and payment processing companies creates consistent demand for senior software development engineers with specialized skills in distributed systems, APIs, and cloud platforms, which can strengthen H-1B specialty occupation documentation. Georgia Tech's graduate pipeline means many local employers are familiar with OPT and STEM OPT transitions that can precede H-1B sponsorship. Prevailing wage requirements apply based on the specific work location within Georgia, so Atlanta metro roles typically reflect higher wage levels than positions outside the city.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior software development engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
