Which companies in Idaho sponsor visas for AI/ML engineers?
Micron Technology is Idaho's most active visa sponsor for technical roles, including AI and ML engineering positions tied to semiconductor research and automation. Clearwater Analytics, a Boise-based fintech firm, has sponsored H-1B visa workers in data and engineering functions. Albertsons Companies' technology division and several healthtech startups in the Treasure Valley also have sponsorship track records, though volume is lower than major tech-state employers.
Which visa types are most common for AI/ML engineer roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for AI/ML engineers in Idaho, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field. Candidates with a master's degree may benefit from the advanced degree exemption pool during the annual H-1B lottery. The O-1A is an alternative for those with demonstrable extraordinary ability, though it requires substantial documentation.
Which cities in Idaho have the most AI/ML engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Boise accounts for the large majority of AI/ML engineering sponsorship activity in Idaho. The Treasure Valley, which includes Nampa and Meridian, has seen tech employer growth alongside Boise's expansion. Coeur d'Alene has a smaller but emerging tech presence. Outside these areas, sponsored AI/ML roles in Idaho are rare, so concentrating your search on the Boise metro gives you the broadest access to sponsoring employers.
How to find ai ml engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter AI/ML engineer roles by state, including Idaho, showing only positions where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually checking individual company careers pages. Micron Technology and Clearwater Analytics are worth targeting directly as well, since both appear in H-1B disclosure data for technical and engineering roles.
Are there any Idaho-specific factors AI/ML engineers should know about visa sponsorship here?
Idaho's tech sector is smaller than states like California or Washington, so the number of sponsoring employers is more limited and competition within those employers can be higher for sponsored seats. Boise State University produces AI and data science graduates, which means local candidate pipelines exist, though international candidates with specialized ML skills remain competitive. Prevailing wage determinations for AI/ML roles in Idaho are set by the Department of Labor based on the Boise metro area, which influences what sponsors are required to pay.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai ml engineer jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
